I am feeling a bit tetchy this morning probably due to lack of sleep

I have got used to having all the windows open without the deafening sound of jet engines, they are back with a vengeance! Where are all these people going and on the hottest day of the year? And Eid, fireworks until midnight and again last night!

At least it is cooler now but I will have to close my windows at night grrrr!

Reading these posts re doc's surgeries, I'm glad I never really have to visit a doctor.
Surely that simple problem could have been dealt with over the phone @KT53? Quick conversation and a check of the notes, prescription submitted to a chemist/pharmacist. Job done. Utterly ludicrous.
My curmudgeonly gripe is one I've been nurturing for a while, and I dare say many have noticed it.
Why are so many new folk posting with names that look like Stevie Wonder's been let loose with a keyboard?

That kind of thing. Bizarre. Makes it quite awkward when you want to tag them if you reply too!  :D

@Fairygirl, l agree ! Everytime l see one l thnk "Spammer !" and get all excited thinking the Spam flag thread is going to pop up and l might be the one to get the final flag....
I really need to get out more (although on second thoughts maybe not).
And don't get me started on people who join, ask a question and then are never seen again. I try to give the benefit of the doubt,  but when it keeps happening l do get a tad curmudgeonly.

I think that's exactly it @AnniD. The spammers often adopt that sort of moniker  :D

@anniD Perhaps a lot of people only need the answer to their problem and aren't looking for a 'chat board'. Maybe a lot of people, like me,don't feel 'one of the gang' so only appear to ask questions. I do a lot of reading on here, picking up tips etc but never feel able to contribute to what seems a discussion amongst an established group of friends.Maybe like me they also aren't sure how to use the site despite the 'how to' facility being available and are using the log in details they're given and just add their name to it?

And if i need to add a moan to all this,( if they weren't moans enough) i still can't work out how to get the most recent posts to come up first instead of having to trawl through all the page numbers at the top of the thread!

@Klink, that's fine, l understand that some people don't want to chat or get involved . My point is that if l asked a question and someone took the time and trouble to answer it, l would acknowledge it.
It doesn't have to be a long drawn out response, a simple "Thank you" or even a like would do. It's what my nan would call basic good manners.
I take your point about the page numbers!   :)

    Welcome to the corner @Klink😊
Just scroll across the numbers to the highest one. This is page 44. After that, the next time you visit the thread, you will go straight to the new posts.
There are lots of 'gangs' as you call them. Most threads are gardening related. Some loosely related and some not at all. Have a look and jump in. Just say hello. You don't have to say something amazing.😉 All of the long standing threads are really pleased to welcome new posters
If you can't find a thread that interests you, start one of your own.

@anniD Yes, i would also (try) to acknowledge a reply and indeed i hope i always have but (and i'm not making excuses here) you don't need to log in to see the reply so maybe if they only have one question that needs answering and it's answered enough for them...

@B3 It seems that every time i log in i have to hunt the page i last visited, no going straight to the new posts. I guess it may have something to do with me clearing cookies/cache each time i switch off the computer. Not that i'm paranoid  of course... :/
