@anniD Perhaps a lot of people only need the answer to their problem and aren't looking for a 'chat board'. Maybe a lot of people, like me,don't feel 'one of the gang' so only appear to ask questions. I do a lot of reading on here, picking up tips etc but never feel able to contribute to what seems a discussion amongst an established group of friends.
Agree @Klink and welcome. It's very cliquey. Most of my posts are ignored on the gardening threads, let alone the "chatty" threads so I usually don't get involved until I see something I agree on, like your comment!
I'm more curmudgeonly about people who expect effusive thanks for all their posts. Let me bow down and kiss your feet, your majesty.
@Treeface Thank you for the welcome Not only has your post been ignored by the many, you've made them move house!!
The whole point of this thread, as I understand it, is to give us a chance to vent .... sometimes, but not necessarily, requiring a response.Â
Responding to a curmudgeon often leads to an argument so is sometimes best avoided.Â
If folk want a conversation there are several chat threads.Â
@B3 has kindly provided curmudgeons with a new thread for moaning, whinging and ranting ... I’m over there moaning about the wind damage to my bean wigwam.Â
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
@Fairygirl I'm not sure i misunderstood that much. The reasons to be cheerful thread is over 100 pages and still going. It doesn't change my opinion on the opening comment of the follow on thread either.
Fair enough. Many threads carry on, as we don't have Nora here any more, and the mods seem to leave it as they have other things to do I expect. The original reason given was that the threads took a long to load.  It's mostly habit that @B3 renews it - and a bit of a theme. Possibly because like to moan more than be cheerful. A British tradition perhaps The Resurrected and Forkers threads are the same if you look - they change every 100 days. It's sometimes the only way we know what month it is Â

Actually the Forkers thread changes with the month @Fairygirl, because I negotiated a dispensation with Nora ... if we'd changed every 100 pages it'd be happening so frequently it'd be daft.  I then send a 'Report' to the Mods on the last post of the previous month, asking them to 'lock the thread' otherwise they can just ramble on and on. Perhaps @B3 would like to do that with this oneÂ
The RTBC thread started a while later than the Curmudgeon series, so maybe the OP just isn't aware of why or when we start a new one.Â

I didn't word that very well @Dovefromabove. I added Forkers to the sentence after I'd said 100 pages. I haven't been out for my walk yet I'll get me coat...and see you all later for a moan Â

I guess it depends on your interpretation of a chat thread. It seems to me that there's a lot of 'chat' on this thread.

We have been blessedly free of personal insults so far and I hope this will continue.
I'd say a good 30% of my threads sink without a trace. I assume no one knows the answer; it's not interesting; I posted it at the wrong time.
