Too many treats kill @KT53 and before they do they cost the NHS an incredible waste of money and time trying to care for people poisoning their bodies with excess sugar, fats, refined carbs and alcohol.
Absolutely right being massively overweight can be a real health risk but size 14 is not overweight and losing weight is not always easy. I think it’s pointless trying to persuade people the only people who succeed are those who decide for themselves to eat more healthily and maybe exercise more. As a mom of course you worry but I say pick your battles.Â
I accept that too many treats can be a problem but Nanny Beach sounds like the 'Enjoyment Police'. I'm sure it isn't meant that way, but is how it came across to me. I don't particularly like sugary items but do enjoy a beer or glass of wine. Moderation is the key, not trying to deny people any of what they enjoy.
I have had the opposite problem of trying to put weight on. After a serious illness I had to put half a stone on to reach the minimum weight for my build. Trying to find healthy food that would make me put the weight on was almost impossible. It has taken two and a half years but I have finally done it.
Well done @Pauline 7.  Sounds like an excellent excuse to eat lots of chocolate - good quality of course and with nuts for extra oomph - tho some of us just have to look at a bar of chocolate to start putting on weight.
Yes @debs64, size 14 is not fat unless you have a teeny frame, but to go up two sizes during Lockdown is a trend that needs stopping before it becomes really hard to reverse.
@KT53 - agree we need some fun and treats. Lockdown has meant OH and I went many weeks seeing nobody and going nowhere apart from my weekly SM raid. We're normally quite sociable and eat out once or twice a month. We had just started the 5:2 diet at the end of Feb and I have used Lockdown to experiment with new recipes and try different wines but also to cook and eat healthy food and not eat cr*p. We have both lost 8 kilos - being busy in the garden helps, as do all the lovely fresh fruit and veg.
At size 14 I am very definitely overweight. It depends on your height and build. I am on the short side and small boned so I probably should be no more than a 10 ideally. It's not occasional treats that are the problem, everyone deserves a treat now and then. It's when they become a regular part of the diet (biscuits with cuppa, wine and pudding every evening etc.). It's an easy habit to get into and of course that's why I am carrying too much fat. Must try harder, and someone calling me out on it might just do the trick. Different personalities react differently.

I decided in order to cut down on butter, I would get an olive spread. Every single one contained palm oil apart from one that was mostly butter and defeated the object of the exercise. I don't fancy the other spreads you can get as they all have a worryingly long list of ingredients. I'll stick to my lighter butter for now.
Does anyone else have my problem: having been an effortlessly skinny size 10 all my life, since retiring from my physically active job six years ago, I've gained about 3kg/half a stone and expanded to a size 12 and from a B cup to a C. I hate the rolls of flab that have accumulated round my middle, and my knockers are heading further south than ever. But whenever I mention anything about it, people scoff and say, "There's nothing of you!" There's more of me than I like; why can't people just accept that?
Try and increase exercise levels @josusa47 and watch the empty/non nutritious high calorie snacking. Â
@B3 - give up bread and you won't need the spread! We only ever have proper butter here and proper olive or rapeseed oil but eat bread maybe once a month.
I may have lost weight but I'm not fit. No dance class since early March and no walkies cos of the stupid knee. It seems that despite being "27" I'm too young for a new knee.
