Ooooh, loved the comments on here, also do not believe either Starmuck or Costa (lot!!) actually make coffee,my grump of the week. no; 1 daughter came over, went shopping, came back put said bag on worktop, politely asked her not to (nothing to do with the virus, I have never put a bag thats been on a shop floor etc on a worktop), asked if she had washed her hands, she put kitchen tap on full blast, started shouting Happy Birthday to You, while chucking water everywhere, She has been moaning about her weight (as has the old man, his own, not hers!!) that she has gone from a 10 to a 14. Picked up a large bag of large choclate Buttons she had bought, asked her if she knew how many calories in them. She said life would be joyless without reats, of course I agree, and having "planted myself on the sofa at the beginning of lockdown and growed" have lost m ost of the weight, now, ignoring the bicky tin, sweets, choc, I do have treats. The old man had a tiny bag of Jelly Babies last week 230 gm, kindly informed him there was over 700 cals in it, so3 meals, and, 700 extra cals just that one day. Daughter told me it was because she hadn't been excersising. Said to no; 2 daughter "Dont you think Mum is over th top), that I had told her a packet of Chocolate Buttons would kill you, she picked the wrong allie, because this daughter sshielded March to June because of son's asthma. Has she actually forgot my 40 years Nursing, including Barrier, reverse Barrier and Isolation!!
She also has a good friend of over 30 years with a Husband in hospital with the virus since March, ask her if being sensible about your weight and washing your hands is over the top!!
Better to vent here then you can calmly point out the error of her ways. She will, of course, see reason and will embrace the delights of a bag of carrot sticks😊
B3, yeah right!! Went to see no; 2 son yesterday (I am his carer) he studied psychology for a few years, is very unhappy about people not waring masks while in close proximity, said he was having a job "buttoning it", but said daughter is a manager in one of his large local stores, lots of blokes 20's 30's not wearing them. He said exactly what he reconned would have happened with his sister, blimey, has he got the place bugged!!
I have never met anyone who reacted positively to negative comments about their weight. I think we all know what to do but finding the willpower is the tricky part. @Nanny Beach I think you are wasting your time.Â
I watched the Michael Mosely programme about losing a stone in 21 days last night.  It seems 2/3rds of UK adults are overweight and most don't realise it. It impacts all sorts of things like heart age and function, diabetes 2, senility and leads to a poorer outcome if you do catch Covid-19.
It seems confinement has led to excess snacking, increased drinking and less exercise and many people have gained weight and/or reduced fitness.  Triple whammy. Â
On Radio Wales Wyn Evans (yes the Go Compare guy has his own radio show. You should hear him sing happy birthday to people, it's amazing) was asking people if Lockdown has left them 'Hunkier, chunckier or drunkier'. There were a couple of people who said they'd become hunkier. Should Lockdown have a capital L by the way? It seems like it should.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
Sorry Nanny Beach but I think you are being over the top. Yes people need to look after their health but I agree with your daughter that life would be very dull without some treats along the way. Your husband probably thinks the same but is scared to say so.
Life is 90% treats these days. I'm not sure how we slipped into the trap that we can only enjoy life if we're being self indulgent. Fresh fruit used to be a treat at one time and now it's almost viewed as a punishment.
Anyway we clicked an order with Asda just before midnight last night and collected it before 9am. No technical difficulties this time.
