It's an ongoing process. Two steps forward; only  one step back if I'm lucky. We've been married 43 years and lived in sin for a few years before that. The power of inertia😐

The temperature isn't the problem, it's more the sudden change in temperature and the high humidity combination which causes the problems.  Apparently in some parts of the country, yesterday had the 3rd highest temperature ever recorded in the UK.

A friend's adult daughter has a recurring problem with 'water infections'.  They don't happen often but she knows the process to follow when they do.  When this process (drink lots of water over a couple of days) didn't work she contacted her surgery to arrange an appointment with a GP - appointments can only be made by e-mail!  She got a call back from a staff member telling her she needed to phone 111.  Tried to explain that all she needs is a quick word with the GP and the standard antibiotics which alway clear it up.  Told again she has to phone 111.  Calls 111 and told by the call handler that if it's urgent they will send an ambulance.  She tells them it's not that urgent and explains the events which led to he phoning 111 in the first place.  Fast forward and car paramedic and ambulance arrive at her door!  Quick check over and the paramedic says they need a urine sample.  They then realise they don't have a test kit in either the car or ambulance, so a 3rd vehicle arrives with the test kit.  Test is inconclusive, as my friend's daughter told them it would be because she was drinking large amounts of water, as previously advised by the GP.
End result - the paramedic said she would need to make an appointment with her GP!
Ambulance resources are stretched but 3 vehicles were sent to a person who had told everybody involved exactly what the problem was and what was required.

@KT I’ve heard that happens often, no money, yeah right!  No wonder they say NHS is underfunded.

I have never had a satisfactory conversation with 111.  They just read from a script and are incapable of making any sort of sensible decision.  I'm afraid I always cut them out and go to A&E not an ideal situation.

That's a ridiculous situation but due to poor management by the surgery. We are now triaged over the phone at ours, but a GP always rings us back and deals with the problem.

    Same here ... great system.

And today we received a text from the practice with information about talking therapies, employment support, peer support and other stuff available online and by phone that we can access via the NHS Wellbeing Service ... recognising that some folk are struggling and feeling down due to the coronavirus situation. Brilliant.
