Good morning.   Lovely roses @D0rdogne_Damsel.  Hope it survives the move.

Our Malvern Hills has finished its first flush @Busy-Lizzie so no rain damage except the ones I've missed dead-heading.   The other roses with bigger flowers seem to have enjoyed the rain but but's not been stormy.

No fish and chips here but I did cook Cullen Skink for dinner last night as it was unseasonably cool.   Delish.   I enjoyed Springwatch too @Dovefromabove but I'm afraid Monty did his usual trick and sent me off to sleep on the sofa.

Gardening for me today.  Need to bung some compost on the quarried ruin bed to bring the soil level back up a bit and then plant a few things and move a few things.  Rust delivery on Monday and it includes supports and panels for roses and clematis so I need space for post holes and access to erect it all.

Hope everyone who needs it gets some rain.  Desperately dry here still as we've only had showers really.  They're predicting a heatwave for most of June and July..........

We have the same blustery winds, but very little rain.  Heading out to the greenhouse in a minute for some more potting on.  Everything is going great guns in there đŸ‘đŸ»

We had a lovely walk and picnic round the Test Valley yesterday.  Passed through a few villages, with many thatched rooves and roses round the door .....

...... like a postcard 😀.  Thought of @Hostafan1 as much of our walk was through the John Lewis Estate of Leckford.  FiL was evacuated there as a boy, and has very fond memories of the place.

Still no rain here, so spent yesterday watering again. Had to have my jacket on on the plots it is so windy & quite cold. Heating? we only just put the duvet back on last 2 nights we have only had a top sheet on the bed for weeks now. Have been pruning the early flowering shrubs, lilac tree etc  at home but this high wind has kept me off the ladder the last 2 days, being only a flyweight myself don't want to get blown over the neighbouring gardens.  :D

If we see you flying in this direction we’ll put the nets up @Allotment Boy ... don’t want you crash landing in the North Sea!

There are some very grumpy looking woodpigeons sitting on our fence ... they don’t like this weather. The goldfinches and bluetits are still using the feeders even while it’s raining.

Yesterday I saw a male blackbird with a beak-full of coir hanging basket liner heading into the neighbours’ laurels. I hope he didn’t lose an earlier nest in the tree massacre that took place opposite us last Sunday  :/

It’s pizza for supper this evening ... I’m experimenting with a sourdough base so the dough has been made and it’s starting on its long slow proving, while tinned tomatoes, finely chopped onion and garlic, and oregano are simmering on the hob ... they’ll reduce through the day to make a lovely sweet unctuous thick spreadable goo for the topping. We don’t have mozzarella in the house,
but we have cheddar and Parmesan ... we’ll manage with a soupçon of those ... we do have plenty of anchovies, olives and prosciutto 😋

    That is so pretty @chicky

Only a top sheet @Allotment Boy? Gosh you are hardy. We've had the summer duvet.

I hope Dordogne has some rain to water my garden there. Their forecast says rain all week and quite cool.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Morning all. Just having a late breakfast after SM and delivery duties, and it’s lovely to read through what you have all been up too.
Heating on here! Ridiculous! Only on in the one room but still. Tomorrow looks the better day this weekend so washing and gardening can be done tomorrow. I’m going to have a tidy round then catch up on GW and a few programmes.
    Have a pleasant weekend all.

    Hi all

Please forgive me, but I am in no mood for chatting, I would just winge and moan.
Still feeling terrible, but I think some progress is being made.
Due to have surgery sometime next week.

Don't worry about moaning @punkdoc you have more reason than most.  Hope the surgery goes well.  Morning all, the sun has just appeared after a lot of rain.  It's windy out there but thinking of going out and having a bit of a mooch around the garden, not sure if I'll get anything done today. Have my eye on another opportunity to widen a border to give me a bit more planting space.  Everytime we have a spell of dry weather I consider getting rid of it altogether as I hate the dry straw look.  Then we have rain and the glorious green returns and I love it all over again. It's cold here, haven't put the heating on but fluffy fleece and slippers and socks have returned.  Hope everyone has a good weekend.
