@chicky - I think a lot of people only know the song from that film! Joni did a beautiful, very slow version on an album where she revisited songs and did orchestral arrangements etc on them. Her voice has changed of course, but that's what smoking a million fags a day for 50 years does to you  ;)

It is cooler here and we have some cloudy bits - but no rain in sight not even a dribble - and the wind has not only eased but changed to the west which is a relief too.  I am going to grab my second coffee and go and paint a wall peacock blue before it gets too warm again.  OH is gong to tidy up the mess he made doing this to the fig tree

Not bad for an under gardener's first attempt at crown lifting.  It was thick stems and foliage to the floor before.   Paddock behind it.   Weed infested pnk volcanic gravel all around it.

We think we might go to a beach for a walk tomorrow and reckon if we go at lunch time it'll be empty.   Don't want to stay out too long or meet people either, just see a lot of ocean and some of the shoreline birds.

Sorry you're hurting @punkdoc and hope they get the pain meds sorted PDQ.   Sorry about West Dean @chicky but I expect all the volunteers will clean it up with gusto.   They'll need to get the furloughed staff back to get it ready for visitors soon won't they?   Great to see your sisters tho.

Loved the photos @Busy-Lizzie.  It's come on a lot since we visited 4 years ago.

@Fairygirl the first song I can recall hearing on the radio and registering is The Coasters' Charlie Brown cos it was funny I suppose.   The other is Living Doll which was around at the same time and puzzled me cos I didn't play with dolls of any sort tho I had several from people who thought girls should.

Stay well everyone and steer clear of bampots.  Lovely expressive word.

Probably the most famous duo in the 20th century. Title track is always voted in the top 2 or 3 best No 1 songs...
    Ah - I think I've got it now :)

@Dovefromabove - it was the original [and best  ;) ] Fleetwood Mac.

Obvious when you think about it @raisingirl, isn't it, but you wouldn't think it would be them for some reason?  :)

    Morning all.
@Fairygirl I was young then and they were my 3 favourite groups so I think it was the Monkees who outsold the Beatles and the Stones.
For the 70's album I'll have a guess at another of my favourites, but I don't expect it's them - Simon and Garfunkel.

So sorry you are feeling so rough @punkdoc, I hope the painkillers can help.

Cloudy here. I shall plant my new rose.

I didn't really buy albums - only singles - but I had two Fleetwood Mac albums, Rumours being one of them. Simon and Garfunkel had spilt up by the time I had pocket money to buy music but I listen to them a lot now. Their songs are timeless, so I suppose you don't really attach them to one decade or another which is why they don't come to mind when you're asked the question.

I have a treat this week - a new bit of garden to plant up. We have a small courtyard space on the sunny, sheltered side of the house which has slowly been forming over the years until now. It's got a small bed - a bit less than 3m x 3m - and it's the only place here that I'd have  chance to grow some of the softer plants that can't cope with the wind. I've already had one trip to the garden centre for a small tree and some bigger shrubby things. Now I'm wandering around the garden looking at things that aren't happy where they are and wondering if I should relocate them.....

I was in love with Peter Green @Dovefromabove. Sublime guitarist :)
Still can't hear Man of the World without getting a lump in my throat too.  :'(
