Dove, does the garage get very hot?  We have a 7 feet fridge/freezer in our kitchen, then bought a chest (bad idea, everything you want is at the bottom) its in the conservatory, I signed up to "Which?", couldnt find any that said you could use in an outbuilding, our garage is in a block in the next road (a slip road) so that wouldnt work, the shed, (wood) is very cold in winter and hot in summer.  I know 40 odd years ago, when my friends bought their first houses, they used to keep both their washing machines and fridges and freezers in the garage, because the kitchen were so tiny.

We’ve had real thunder and lightening this afternoon ⛈

I love a good thunderstorm @Dovefromabove . We don't get them very often, especially at this time of year.
Rain's back on now, and very windy. Bridges up here all have warnings on them and closed to high sided vehicles.
I got a bit done this afternoon while it was dry, and then moved two pots out of the 'line of fire'. Don't want them getting battered when they're a bit vulnerable. Got another clematis to plant tomorrow.
Glad you had a nice day @Yviestevie :)
I'm off for a lie down now. Catch you all tomorrow....

    Evening all,

Had an early start this morning, 6:30, had to lay down weed suppressor before carpenter arrived. He is a lovely man, very skilled, very experienced, but has guidelines, he doesn't do anything but work with wood, weed supressor, digging out of weeds/shrubs in his way - no, painting/treatment of wood - no,  laying of foundations - no. at least I know where I stand and am an expert on being the lackey now.  :) He is adorable and so far seems to be 'on it' .

My kitchen is also now spotless - well it was at 6pm, whether all the dust has now resettled.....

Had to move one of my favourite roses for the carpenter - not in his domain, obviously, such a shame, after two years it was finally coming into it's own - anyway I picked the flowers, cut it back hard and put it in a lovely pile of super rich compost, we'll see.

Lovely to read back on your days.

Love a good storm here too but they frighten Bonzo dog to bits - trembling and diving under furniture which isn't always big enough.........

It is still cloudy but no more dribbles and the wind has eased.   Back to mucky stuff tomorrow then.  So much to do!

It occurs to me that the "rust" that should arrive on Monday to make a hen pen will be perfect support or a few clematis as it looks like I won't get my dance floor terrace and it's surrounding pergola till next year.   Dangerous stuff giving an Obxx time to think.

Wasn’t Springwatch lovely?  That Devon hedge ❤️  and the wasps and hornets ❤️
I’m too tired for GW ... I’ve left the Under Gardener watching and recording and I’ve come to bed. 🥱
    Sleep tight all 🛌

I enjoyed Springwatch too, and GW.

Most of my gardening in the last week has been watering, so dry. But no need to water today, it has poured and hailed. Malvern Hills rose now looks a soggy mess. I had put the basil outside in a biggish pot but now it's back in the kitchen, though not on the window sill. It's been cold, heating back on.

We had fish and chips tonight, which I ordered by phone. They were very good, had medium haddock which were huge and one large chips which did a helping each and some for the freezer. Raspberries and cream for pud. I had an Old Speckled Hen beer with my fish, I feel huge, that's probably another pound on!

Morning all. Another minus 8 this morning. The Nasturtiums I have on the front veranda finally succumbed.  So sad. They had been doing very well and there were at least 4 different shades of orange and red. 😒

Not planning anything today. Might go for a pine cone walk later when it warms up if we both feel in the mood for it. At least the wood heater is still chugging away in the lounge room.

    Morning all.
Very breezy here and last night was cold. ( not as bad as @Pat E 's but too cold for me for June  )

    Morning all - if anyone's there../afties Pat.
    Did you get your walk?
Rain's stopped, and wind's dropped, so it was quite pleasant when I was out. Skies are still leaden though. What I call a Frankie Boyle sky. "there's a deep depression over Glasgow. Now for the weather forecast..."

Sounds like it's all taking shape now @D0rdogne_Damsel. I'm sure your rose will be fine. You have that new undergardener to help anyway  ;)
Not had fish and chips in ages.  :/
I have some of those rusted plant supports @Obelixx, and could do with one for a clematis I got which is staying in a pot. They're out of stock of almost everything just now though.
