Hiya @Hostafan1 ... we usually stop off near Oxford on our way home from Cornwall ... it’d take a day to travel from there to you and back ...🤔 maybe the car battery needed a run out ... or maybe they’re at their holiday cottage for the Bank Joliday ... perish the thought 🙄

Hi folks, Happy Birthday @punkdoc, sounds like you had a good day. I couldn't sleep last night, got up at 4.30 and had a browse on Pinterest. Ended up looking at some lovely shabby chic sheds. So today I ended up clearing out the shed and painting the inside, Hubby put up some shelves and I threw away 4 black bags of rubbish. It's no palace but looks a lot better and I may actually be able to get in there to do my potting up next spring. Absolutely shattered now so I'm relaxing and watching an old episode of Vera. Don't think I'll be doing much tomorrow, I'll be too busy nursing my aches and pains.
So glad you had a good day @ punkdoc 🥂. We’ve cracked open a french rose too 👍🏻.
Done some serious grafting today - clearing one of our veg beds that the builders trashed, and some very severe pruning of some rhodies.
Just seen they are re-running All creatures great and small on BBC 4 .... loved it first time around. Have recorded the series so will see how it has aged.
Sorry you're a bit knackered @Yviestevie. Hope you're getting some nice presents for the b'day- maybe some nice items for your shed I was thinking of painting the inside of mine. Plenty of leftover paint to use up, which also means more room. Method in my madness. I've already got a photo of Ben Lomond in there, so perhaps I could do a 'muriel' as someone used to call them. @Hostafan1 - from Oxford? ...and so it begins eh? I hate to think what many places will be dealing with - again. Some of the things people were dealing with [item on the radio t'other day] was beyond belief. Utterly disgusting. Cleared up here late afternoon, so I decided to tackle the phormium that needs dividing, after a thread about it earlier. After much swearing, and sawing, I now have several clumps, and I'll carry on with it tomorrow. I loved that too @chicky. We all used to call it 'the Vets' . Did you see the series of 'road trip' programmes C.Timothy and P. Davison did? They were great too. I meant to tell you @punkdoc - there was an excellent prog last week about Hamish McInnes on our Scotland channel. You might get it on a catch up or online thingy. It was a very fitting ending too. He's had a hard time in the last decade or so. Proper legend of a man.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
I painted the inside of my shed last year with left over white emulsion, surprising just how much lighter and brighter it looks, even now - and I can see where the large spiders are!
Thanks @Fairygirl, I shall try and find that. I met Hamish many years ago, when he was giving a talk at the Clachaig Inn in Glencoe. He is a truly fascinating man.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
Did you know he designed the stretcher all rescue teams use? I knew about the ice axe, but I didn't know that. Incredible man and a modest one too. There are some around who could do well to look at how he has conducted himself through his lifetime. Prog was called - Final Ascent - The legend of HM. I should have said that.

Yes, I did know about the stretcher, but I suppose that's my sort of thing. I always feel the truly great, tend to say the least about their achievements, but empty vessels...
