Thank you for letting us know about @punkdoc, Moira. I hope he'll feel better soon.

Welcome back @Obelixx, I've missed you.

We've managed to book for Hyde Hall next week but it rather depends if they will lend OH a buggy as his hip is bad. We had problems with the website and it suddenly changed to Harlow Carr and booked that, after many attempts that came to nothing. I think the Hyde Hall website was clogged up with people trying to book as RHS members had an email invitation this morning.

@punkdoc - Hope Nigel is better soon Moira - send him my love  :)
I'll get you up to speed with the new threads @Obelixx - everyone has got dried up Rhododendrons, Acers, Clematis, Grass and Hydrangeas.
Feel free to add any others .... :D

Too hot for me out there, I've been inside most of the day. Went out for a little while to split a wee pot of bulbs, once the sun had moved away. Still too hot in the shade. I'm not built for this, and apparently we're to be the hottest place up here tomorrow. I'll go out early again, and then stay in!

Hello folks, Sorry to hear you're not well @punkdoc hope you feel better soon.  Welcome back @Obelixx
It's really hot here, went to Ashwoods this morning and bought half a dozen sedums and a couple of plants for a new wrought iron hanging basket that Firstborn bought me for my birthday.
I've planted up the basket and got the sedums into the front garden.  I've been indoors for a while staying out of the sun doing a new summer wreath for the front door.  I've also done a bit of knitting.  Only one sleeve left to go on Jonah's jumper then I have Gabriel's to do.  It's taking a while as I can only do a bit at a time.

    Evening.
I send my best wishes to our forum friend @punkdoc, Moira.

Had a a busy day as Father-in-law had a fall and went to A&E. Big shout out to the ambulance crew who took him home this evening, as it was a challenging scenario and they were very helpful and kind. Top job.

Having a lovely unhealthy supper of sausage sandwiches now.

Hope everyone else is ok and enjoying the warm weather if you have it.

I see what you mean about new threads @Fairygirl.    33C here today and a very drying wind has been blowing from the north east for several days now.   I've had to put the sprinkler on my new rose bed for an hour, partly to help the new guys and gals but partly to stop the soil being like concrete when I plant ground cover perennials in the next day or so.   Mix of volcanic schist and clay so rock hard when dry despite 5 tonnes of horse poo last year.

Hope your dad's OK now @AuntyRach.  We had healthy cod and tomatoes for dinner (thin day) but tomorrow will be Limousin steak altho I find beef extremely boring so I'll cut it in strips and do it Szechuan style.

@Dovefromabove - we have loads of wild apple mint as well as my pots of ginger, Moroccan and strawberry mint.  Can you ask your foody friends in France which apple I can use to make mint jelly?  No Bramleys here.

Dad-in-law is ok this time but starting to fall frequently when you have dementia is not good news. Plus after 10 weeks of isolating, he has now been in a hospital.

I’ll venture outside to check on my babies (veg plants!) and give everything a good watering soon - good therapy and relaxation after a tough day.

Apologies @AuntyRach - I mis read and thought it was your Dad. Very worrying regardless, and not made easier by the current circumstances.
