@Dovefromabove & @Obelixx Thanks for the advice re : Bread & yeast we still have someĀ  bread in the freezer but if we get desperate. I know there is other bread available but after our usual one which is fortified with extra bran, nearly all the other commercial bread has the texture of cotton wool to me.

Pop master, you are a clever lot I usually struggle to get double figures mind you we solved both walls & got all the connectionsĀ  in the final of only connect which was better than the teams.Ā

@Busy-Lizzie - I often wonder if the really quick people actually practise a good few times before they get to their fastest speedĀ  ;)

Morning all.Ā  I'm totally exhausted, having just come back from a big shop in our local Tesco Express, which I find very stressful. It's probably because I don't often shop there so don't know yet exactly where everything is kept, there's a different smaller product range from our usual big Sainsbury's and we have to keep to the one-way system so I keep missing things. I've also pulled a ligament/muscle in my chest on my right side somehow, gardening no doubt, which meant picking things up and manoeuvring the trolley around, quite painful. I should have let OH do it. Still, I'm home now, relaxing with a cup of coffee. I am grateful though that I don't have to queue for ages at the big Sainsburys.Ā

@Obelixx - your daughter sounds exactly like my daughter. She gets 3 strikes and then I get really, really cross and threaten to call the police (she lives alone) unless she texts me!

Yes @Allotment Boy I got those walls šŸ‘Ā  I think the teams were trying to be too clever ... and some of their 'ordinary general knowledge' was a bit lacking I thought.Ā Ā

Shopping done here too.Ā  Quieter than last week but I timed my visit for midday when France is at lunch.Ā  Ā That also gave me just enough time to raid the plant shop over the way for some proper tomatoes and a new spring tined rake head for OH as his has died of exhaustion after 25 years of use.

Got everything I wanted except new gas bottles for the soda fountain and including a Ferrero Rocher egg for OH for Sunday.Ā  Ā No lamb cos they're selling it packs of half a beast and there's not enough room in my freezer.Ā  They even had young goat but ditto.Ā  Luckily I have a leg of lamb in the freezer so we're OK for Sunday and I found stone milled organic flour for my hot cross buns.

Lots of lovely French grown veg available and even some pink Roscoff onions.Ā  Ā Obxx is a happy bunny.Ā  As for Possum, yes, I too operate the 3 strikes rule @Lizzie.Ā  Ā If she needs telling 3 times I get cross.Ā  Ā She has at least PMd her pa today to say she went jogging but only lasted 10 minutes as it was horrid.Ā  Jogging?Ā  Other people? Weather?Ā  Who knows?

Righ then, I am now dressed in gardening strappy top and shorts ready to go and weed and plant as soon as I've had my coffee.

@Busy-Lizzie I did a lot of online puzzles when I had my broken toe soon after we arrived here.Ā  Ā Tend to watch TV at the same time tho so never tried to beat anyone's time.

Children eh?Ā  Once mine got to 18+ I've never 'told' them anything šŸ˜‚ ... yes, I've made suggestions if they've asked,Ā  but I was married with a mortgage, a responsible job and a business to run at eighteen and three quarters and it was very plain from the attitude of my parents that although they loved me very much, my life was my own responsibility and they were not going to interfere or suggest ... only advise if I asked them, and the advice was mine to accept or reject without any 'I told you so' from them.Ā

I think the attitude to young adults is very different nowadays ... children seem to remain children much longer.Ā  Ā Certainly @WonkyWomble and her brother were decidedly independent at that age when it came to running their own lives.

It reminds me of the Byrds 'My Back Pages'Ā  ... 'I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now' šŸ˜ŽĀ  I did a painting about that song.Ā Ā

I've sown more seeds, some 'direct' and some in pots and trays to germinate in the studio (warmish) and some in the little leanto greenhouse ... not very warm except when the sun's on it.Ā  Ā I've also cut back all the ferns ... now my shoulder is painful again Grrrrrrrrrrrr!Ā  Ā  I've a lamb rogan josh and a spinach dall to make later, so I'm going to rest my arm for a bit.Ā Ā

We let Possum go off and live in student digs for her second year at uni even tho it was only 20kms away.Ā  Ā Most Belgian students go home every weekend but she didn't always.Ā  After a year in digs we rented her a flat and set up a proper contract for a flatshare and expected her to manage her finances, bills, services etc and she has.Ā  Ā She's also become president of her students' union and been re-elected for a 2nd year and has also done well in her internships for her courses.Ā  Students unions in Belgium have regular dialogue with the admin of their faculties as well as government ministers so not like when i was a student.

The trouble is that she has developed a tendency to panic at exam times and gets into a dark place.Ā  Ā It's very frustrating and I'm not the sugary sweet mum she thinks I should be a these times - much more of the bracing, practical, pull up your socks, only a few months to go kind of mum and, of course, no chance of a reassuring cuddle at the mo.Ā
