For sure Dovefromabove 👋 For a long time, I've not been able to garden much due to ill health. Already this year I have been able to create a little oasis in my teeny backyard (I now live in a unit). This includes a little pond with 3 goldfish, and gettig back into germinating native seeds which can be something of an art.
Obelixx I love the Adelaide Markets too. Many happy memories going with my parents on the weekend before closing for the cheaper prices. The smell of sawdust on the floor in the fish and butcher's markets. Most of all my special treat - what to choose - a 'fried egg" (fragrant vanilla flavoured yellow and white marshmallow looking like an egg;), OR a stick of Brighton Rock. Yes, Brighton Rock lol. So hard to choose, every time! The Beehive was where everyone met up in the city. "See you at the Beehive". Apparently as it was used by young couples as a rendezvous, there was an effort to "rebrand it as you might say now, as simply "a busy, industrious corner of Adelaide" lol Thanks for the memories😀
Thanks for asking @Obelixx. Mum is not coping with the lockdown in her home at all well and the staff are being less than helpful, especially when I think how much her flat cost and the monthly charges. MIL seems to be improving, but the staff don't think she will be able to return to her house. I expect we will be looking for a home for her to go into.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
I sang in a few choirs from my teens until I was around 40 when I moved to Norfolk .... after that I worked for the Norfolk & Norwich Festival and then with Christie at The King of Hearts which was a centre for Early Music and the Arts while I continued my own work as an artist and running the annual Norfolk Open Studios scheme. Fabulous times ... eventually Christie's contract finished and she returned to Australia and I moved to work with severely disabled children until I retired.

hello @epsilonsage, welcome to the forum. We loved Adelaide too, I think we were there in 1999 so just before Obelixx. We had motored down from Melbourne on the Great Ocean Road, a beautiful trip over 6-7 days - one of the great road trips in the world. We reached a hotel on the coast then went over to Kangeroo Island, just for the day because the capital town was called Kingscote, the same name as my mum's house. I bought loads of souvenirs there with the name on to amuse her, including a big Aussie hat which was far too big for her! I've still got that hat, it's too big for me as well. OH loved the trams in Adelaide, the architecture and the friendly people.
Just stopped for a cuppa and a toasted hot cross bun. More weeding done and Allium bulbs moved into place, ( 72 pots left to go ) . 2 loads of washing done and hung up in the conservatory to dry.
I'm sorry about you Mum and MIL @punkdoc If only the staff could be kind and friendly it would make a difference. I hope a friendly home can be found for MIL.
I've got out the painting stuff for the guest room and spread out the dust sheets, but motivation seems to have faded a bit along with the weather. I felt more energetic yesterday but the sun was out so I was outside. If it's going to be grey and a bit drizzly I wish it would rain properly and water the garden.
I hope my 3 new clematis arrive today as I was told in the email.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
