@Suesyn 😊 well obviously the part of your anatomy above your knees where the elastic would actually be located could not be written about let alone requested over the counter of a shop!😱

... and now thongs appear on mannequins in the windows of high street emporia 🤣

we had a teacher at school, mid 70s who used to get girls to stand on the desk and she'd measure from the desk to the hemline. High shoes required longer skirts.

We had to kneel on the floor @Hostafan1 ... the hem of our gym slips had to touch the floor ... and as they were gymslips we couldn’t roll the waistbands over to shorten the hems.

Glad you had a nicer day 😎

First grammar school all girls, dark green knickers and special green serge shorts for sports.  No bloomers.

2nd grammar school mixed.  headmaster never stooped to mention girls' uniforms.  Deputy head mistress gave regular lectures on the unattractiveness of the back of a bare knee.  She'd make girls kneel and if their skirt didn't reach the floor or chair it had to be lengthened.  She had fits when we started wearing those jersey knee length bloomers to keep bare legs warm in winter  They didn't come in bottle green so never matched the uniform.

  • Evening all, 🙂

Everyone seems a bit more cheery today. 😁

I've even managed to empty and strip the kitchen walls. I've decided to get a man in to skim them over before I paint, I might as well get the job done properly whilst we have the luxury of time. I'm also going to purchase a steam cleaner for the tiles, cooker hood and various shelves, it's astonishing how greasy they are once you take everything off. Any recommendations welcome.

Thanks for the lavender update @Obelixx, I think they are perfect. 😁

Hope you managed the video chat @Yviestevie

For now it's an apéro in the finally emerging sunshine - cheers all. 🥂
