They look very very mouth-watering @Dovefromabove.Ā  What kind of pastry do you use for the pasties?Ā  Ā

@Fairygirl - quite a few of my cake recipes use oil instead of butter including Possum's favourite chocolate carrot cake I had to make for birthdays for years.Ā  Glad you have some supplies now.

No digging here @Liriodendron and we seem to have a natural wildflower meadow now I've stopped OH mowing the bit on the middle.Ā  Sounds like a plan for you tho.

We have been cleaning - me on dusting and tidying, OH with his bloody Dyson.Ā  I may even steam clean the floors tomorrow but now I need a good long hot shower then dinner.

    @Liriodendron

    Suffolk RusksĀ
8 oz SR flour and 1 level tspn baking powder
    3 oz butter rubbed in
Add 1 beaten egg and a little milk to combine like a scone dough.Ā
Roll out to about an inch
Cut into rounds with smallest cutter and bake in hot oven for about 10 mins

Take out of oven ... ease each into two halves by pulling gently and using a fork.Ā
Place on baking sheet ā€˜cut’ side up and return to hot oven for about 7 mins until crisp and beginning to turn golden.Ā
Take out and cool on rack
Eat with butter and cheese (marmite’s good too)

A traditional part of every Suffolk farm worker and builder’s ā€œFrailā€ aka packed lunch.Ā

Also a class in every Suffolk Horticultural Show which has a baking section.Ā

@Obelixx I use Rough Puff, either using our local mill’s best Pastry Flour or I use white bread flour.Ā
I make the pastry the day before and leave it in the fridge overnight so the gluten develops and the pastry is nice and stretchy when making the pasties.Ā

It appears a man has been arrested this pm for jogging along a closed beach near Les Sables d'Olonne wearing just a t-shirt and not carrying his paper to say who he is and what he was doing.Ā  So that's 3 sins - he'll be done for sexual exhibition as well as being in the wrong place at the wrong time and without his papers.

    Makes you wonder.
