@edhelka how is Astronomia in terms of health and repeat blooming? Does it have any fragrance? I wanted to get rose A Simple Life but now thinking of Astronomia after seeing your beautiful photos.

@newbie77 She's in its first year and slow to grow so I can't really answer. No fragrance.
Another similar rose to these is Odyssey, it could be another one to consider.

@newbie77 That salmon colour is really pretty too. I agree, some roses change a lot.

My experiece of Astronomia has been different to edhelka’s @newbie77, we got them at the same time. It’s grown really well for me, healthy, bushy, shiny foliage. The blooms are large and the stamens gorgeous (even without any petals) but they don’t last long on the bush and blow off when it’s windy. However, now it’s got into it’s stride it is always producing more, so is never without a show.

I hear it can get rather wayward in growth when happy and mine has recently sent out three long sprawling canes. I have it in a border, but think it would suit a wilder, relaxed area better, oh and out of the wind!

This time, see if you can guess the rose name from the clue - they’re all ones that have been talked about on here:

    1) Mistress of famous sailor

    2) Proponent of French cooking AKA Edina & Patsy

    3) Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme

    4) Indulgent horticulturist

    5) Near-Wolverhampton wanderer

    6) Ocular carbon crystals

    7) Surrey home of garden designer

    8) Hesiod’s fragmentary poem
I'll give answers at the end of the day 😉

Wet here today but we do need it! Unfortunately it's times for just when Princess Alexandra of Kent was starting to open so she'll probably get flattened again!
