@edhelka I love your Empereur Charles IV, but yes, not a ‘typical’ floribunda as most of us would understand one. I expect ‘floribunda‘ also sells better than hybrid musk x multiflora or whatever.
@cazsophieq2019, I must have missed earlier discussions on your mystery rose, do take Marlorena’s advice over mine any day and hold off the pruning for now!
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
@peteS ..damask crud is a colloquial term, not much used in this country, to refer to foliage that has multiple fungus issues, covering the whole leaf, rather than just black spot alone.. and affects roses of the Damask classes ...
..Souvenir de St. Anne's has the most exquisite buds, white flushed pink.. similar can be found in the shrub rose 'Peal Drift', which also has better, darker foliage..
..a notched bud doing well.. long blooming Tottering by Gently produces lots of hips too..
I transferred the plants into pond baskets, added some more stones and pebbles, and put some logs around. Probably won't keep the logs exactly like this, want to eventually have soft cover from plants around most of the sides. Maybe have logs just down one side.
@Marlorena - they're either marmalade, gloriosa daisies or some sort of mix. Most of them seem to be self seeded a few have regrown from last year. They're everywhere, all along the fence, in the middle of shrubs, by the path.
Pretty, but I won't be letting them take over in the same way next year!
I enjoyed the last nice day of this year (probably) today (rain and cold expected from tomorrow), finished what I wanted to finish for now, harvested all tomatoes with a hint of colour (not many left in the greenhouse, surprisingly it wasn't a bad year) and took some photos of roses.
'Silas Marner', a typical bloom
'Souvenir de St. Anne's', my most favourite new rose this year
'Eyes for You', I am happy with this rose
'Lavender Dream' (cheating with the evening light)
'Our Beth'
The last blooms on 'Super Excelsa', blooming continuously for 4 months for me.
Hello! I'm back from holidays and general work hell. After repotting my 'proper job' it's really taken off.
But as I was away for most of August and September my roald Dahl's and other roses have been really affected by Black spot. Will be doing a lot of leaf picking and mulching after I'm out of quarantine. Anyone else been so affected?
I'm definitely going to be planning my rose planting with more thought in November so that they have more air and room to breathe, but they're still flowering prolifically and my mm Alfred carriere has grown at least a metre in August!
Anyway, I hope you've all been enjoying the sunshine and roses.
@poppyfield64 and @Marlorena. I've also got Jacques Cartier, and been a bit underwhelmed. It just looks messy and scruffy - especially after the rain. Will give it a year, and then that and papworth pride may both be shovel pruned.

I'm pleased with it though 🙂

So many beautiful roses from everyone and so much variety.
