    @Marlorena, so nice to hear from you. True for me too that the rose thread of last year and this year really got me into roses.

    do post pictures. also the pictures of pruned roses.

    @londondesi100,
    Hello and welcome to the forum. To answer your question I bought the bundle of 5 bare root floribundas for £15 from Yougarden in November 2019. They only had two main canes, rather than the three recommended by other posters on here (I didn't know that at the time).  It was more of an experiment out of sheer curiosity I suppose. I potted them all up except one (the weakest) which was a mistake in hindsight and planted in amended soil where a rose had previously been grown. However the potted ones have been fine, repeat flowering (but no fragrance) with good foliage, especially the dark pink one (labelled red!) They have all suffered (like most of my roses, with blackspot). As soon as they go dormant, the intention is to plant them out. Would I buy them again, if I had more room, I'm not sure. Most of my existing roses are named DA's or Peter Beales. You can't compare named roses with unnamed ones but if that is not a consideration and you want to fill a large garden or bed with roses, they would be okay.
    Hope this helps.
    Thank you @Lizzie27 --- I missed this post yesterday. Given I don't in fact have a lot of space - I think I'll try named ones -- either from the dutch supplier @Omori mentioned or the Harkness  I think @N@Nollie gave earlier. Am thinking of 2x chandos beauty ( may end up being too big but I have always loved them )  1x Julia child/ab fab and 1x marie curie. I'm hoping if any of these the space or don't suit it I will be able to find a good home for them a couple years down the line locally.

    Good choices @londondesi100. I really like Chandos Beauty too but haven't the room.
    Nice to hear from you @Marlorena. Hope you are enjoying planning the new border. How's your OH?

    ..thanks Lizzie.. yes, it's been hard work and I'm not done yet..  My husband is on crutches so can't help much, but he can still use an axe or saw to cut something down, which is useful..
    ..hope you're well too...
    @newbie77
    ..thanks so much .. speak soon..

    I just got another email from DA... boy are they busy...

    I planted three Gabriel Oak roses today, it wasn't as bad as expected, the soil is quite workable after all the rain we had.
    Regarding my order from TCL, they told me early November but I haven't received the invoice yet. Last year, it was earlier, because there were Brexit uncertainties and they sent the roses mid-October to avoid problems.
    I am also waiting for orders from Beales and Agel Rosen. Somewhat, I am happy that they take their time, I am too busy to plant all of them now anyway.

    DHL say my Peter Beales order is arriving on Tuesday, so looks like the UK will beat France (Loubert) and the Netherlands (TCL) in the dispatch stakes. From PB I have ordered Francis Dubreuil aka Barcelona, Guy Savoy, Ivor’s Rose aka Flamenco Rosita, Golden Beauty and Alexander.

    @londondesi100, Chandos Beauty and Ab Fab are available bare root at a really good £8 each from https://www.cottage-memories.co.uk/shop but I couldn’t see Marie Curie. I recall someone was very pleased with their potted roses from there, maybe worth a look?

    I had Shropshire Lad rose at my last house, it’s a beautiful rose and the combination of the lovely rose buds and open flowers is gorgeous! Lovely scent and hardly any thorns. I didn’t know much about roses especially climbing roses at that time so most of the flowers were at the top. I’m sure that with the  correct  training it would have had many more flowers than it did. It was quite a vigorous Rose with several new shoots from the base each year. I’m planning on growing it again in my new garden.
    Life's tragedy is that we get old too soon and wise too late.

    @Nollie thanks very much , I hadn't heard of them  -- I placed the order yesterday evening with TCL , ( think I eventually plumped for easy does it instead of Marie Curie ) -- with the difference in postage costs I think TCL probably worked out fairly similar price wise and next time I'll try them to save the travel miles.
