I was just wondering...are there any problems growing 'species' roses. A few have caught my eye of late for their simplicity and colour and I wouldn't mind giving one or two a try...if they aren't to temperamental.

Love the rose lists everyones posting! Here are my new ones for this year (Ive gone a bit mad, have some new beds and have dug out the front up too - super excited!)
I take little snipping tool pictures of mine from the sites so I can remember what they look like pre flowering, so posted those too for you (ive been googling your lists!).

First lot: Prosperity, Rosy Cushion, Wiltshire (lovely pot luck selection from gardening express, friend had the other 3, all lovely named varieties)
Second pic: Black bacarra, Simply gorgeous, Bottom left: Raspberry ripple, Harry wheatcroft, Abracadabra in the middle and bottom right "Fabulous"
    Third Pic:
Styles roses; top left is the stunning Copper lights & right is first great western, bottom two are Lady Marmalade and climber Zephrine Drouhin.
I also have "the fairy" in red white and pink for some ground cover.

Very excited for Simply Gorgeous and Fabulous especially.

@JessicaS, that is an impressive list. Lots of lovely roses to look forward to. We would love to see photos of your garden and roses.

I like your idea of snip and save photos of new roses to look back.

I am waiting for new year to start. I know nothing will change in a day just because it will be 2021, but somehow I get the feeling that spring is closer as soon as new year starts.

@newbie77 Happily! I took quite a few this summer as they all seemed to do really well this year.  Heres a few of mine. Purple tiger in its pot I got from styles in summer, and was delighted when it arrived like that out of its box!  Its happily settled in and is still flowering now.  I have Sweet syrie, Albertine, Seagull (rampant rambler I think its that one!), Waltz time and a couple of unknown ones as well, I'll see if I can find some climber pics.

Excuse my horrendous balding lawn (dogs..), its getting done next year!

@JessicaS, lovely flowers. Such a delight to see them in this dark and cold weather. Love the colours of Fragrant delight and glenfidditch. I really like the frilly petals of descistertiens(hope it is the name). Brother Cadfael is so big and beautiful. It was in my wish list for many months.

Rose des Cisterciens yep, its a beauty! Another styles one, arrived covered in buds.  Its done well as well. Huge blooms! Fragrant delight is outstanding, its almost blushed with the different tones of pinky peaches.  Glenfidditch has a lovely scent - I swear it smells of a hint of whisky!  They all had a good heap of empathy rose feed which has massively brought out colours! Cadfael is big, gorgeous and smells heavenly - only problem is its not very disease resistant, that said it carries on flowering regardless of the blackspot issues, and is STILL flowering now! I'll sulphur etc blast it really early on this spring see if that'll help get it more under control.
