    ...forgive if I'm stating the obvious, but don't forget to puncture holes in any liner you put in to allow water to drain away though...  I've used black bin liners before, the thicker type, but I think Perki's ideas on this are better..

    ...some not so good news on the rose front... Peter Beales is removing over 100 roses from their inventory, mostly the older types, many of them rare, and in some cases not offered by anyone else I think here in UK, although Trevor White still have some of them.. they will be offered to the public on a first come first served basis in due course...  I've been offered an 8 rose bundle at £4 per rose, but I've nowhere to put them...

    @Marlorena I was going to leave the bottom unlined as its bare against the soil - maybe just put some rocks in though.

    Gosh thats a shame about Peter Beales roses - £4 each is a bargain! There were a number of Peter Beales in the pot luck ones I had from Gardening Express and they are lovely, I wonder if some of those were on the list.

    @Marlorena I was looking yesterday at their 'last chance to buy' roses. Is it about these roses or is it another 100?

    ..oh that's ok then...  should be good..
    ...No, I don't think the roses offered by Gardening Express would be the same.. these are much rarer types .. I wasn't aware of that offer though, so that's good..

    @edhelka
    No, this is in addition to those... every so often lately Peter Beales do what is called a 'Drop List'... so this is the Drop List for 2021..
    .. a couple of those on the list are ones mentioned here lately... Quatre Saisons Blanc Mousseux which I think you have, and Duchesse d'Auerstadt which Nollie has..
    ..amongst many others... some are gems, it's such a shame..
    I only know because the Historic Roses Group sent me the email with the offer.. you have to be a member to get the privileged offer at those prices, and the first choice before offered to the public..

    Crepuscule and Cramoisi Superior are on there too...

    I fancy having a go at growing 'Constance Spry' again. I grew it many years ago, at the very beginning of my interest in gardening, on a trellis, albeit not very successfully as the poor thing would be almost denuded of foliage by August, so eventually it had to go. The blooms only show for a few weeks, but I remember them being magnificent with a most delicious scent. So I was wondering if anyone has experience of growing it, who could offer any tips so I can be a bit more successful this time round.

    ..it is rather nice isn't it?    that row was planted by the late Steve Jobs, the Apple computer founder, at his Pixar building headquarters in California... it was his favourite rose... he was very much into roses...

    @Marlorena That's a shame, so many lovely and rare roses being dropped. I don't have QSBM, it was on the list last year but I haven't got it in the end, I've got Amande Paternotte instead. I wish I had more space and could buy at least those roses which aren't available anywhere else. With Brexit, it will be harder and harder to get rare antique roses.

    Wow...that's amazing @Marlorena. The smell must be equally amazing. That's another thing I remember of it...the delicious scent wafts. Can't see any blackspot yet though!
