I also have my alliums about to flower with them and some oriental poppies which I just randomly put in the bed last year then I had to split the plant but think the poppies will be moving again as they just seem to take off!
Love nice foliage, here is a comparison shot of The Generous Gardener (left) and Mortimer Sackler.
That Amber Queen bud again, much larger now.

The bud pics make it look like I’ve got loads of aphids. But actually the number on the plants has reduced considerably since the bird started visiting. The ones that are left just happen to have all congregated on the buds of the roses I photographed!
@Nollie, weak tomato feed means half the recommended on bottle or even less? I have new tomato feed and some leftover seaweed feed. Thinking of giving it to all roses but not sure what dose will be safe?
Lovely photos, everyone. I feel I can hardly keep up with this discussion as there are so many contributions, but I’m enjoying reading and seeing all your roses (and companion plants). I’m quite behind with the roses as I’ve moved houses and most of the roses are new. I’m currently waiting for the buds of Lady Waterlow to finally open.
..oh smart.. I love the rope .. it's such an elegant way to grow roses... like they do in Regent's Park...
Thankyou, my parents helped me put it in last year as I wanted to screen off my small patio area a little bit but still be able to see the rest of the garden. It's weathering well.
It's been a weird year. My Minerva only flowered in July last year but she was new, she's a second-year rose and I am surprised how early she is. The other buds in the cluster are now also opening.
My Gertrude Jekyll is starting now, last year it was almost a month later. PAoK is expected soon, maybe even this week, last year the 1st bloom was fully open on 26/6.
On the other hand, this clematis (Nelly Moser?) is late, it started on 1/5, last year it was 27/4.
I guess some plants are more governed by light levels and some by temperatures. In any case, the result is often unusual combinations of companions - roses and tulips, roses and rhododendrons or camellias etc.

@Mr. Vine Eye
Your roses are terrific... especially like the shot of PAOK... and yes great foliage, something often overlooked I think..
@AlliumPurpleSensation
