    Gosh, I'd like a selection from all these lists... so many coveted roses... and I thought I was the only greedy one ..

    Looking forward to reports on all of these...

    @Nollie
    ...nothing wrong with those, great value for  money...   I don't think your Mutabilis is own root, it looks like a dog rose rootstock that.. they've left the shank a bit short..

    Thanks @Marlorena, that explains why I didn’t recognise it! Does dog rose stock need any special attention do you know? More/less moisture that usual? OK in very alkaline soil?

    @Nollie
    Yes that's ok, not a problem, no special requirements at all...  Your Mutabilis is probably only a year old, like most bare roots, it wouldn't have had the time to develop a root system like you have there.. some of those roots are quite thick and fleshy...  own roots are thin, flimsy and floppy on a young rose..
    Several  dog rose variants are used on the Continent.. it may be the same one used here, or some other.. TCL told me a few years ago they use several different ones - as some are hardier than others..

    @newbie77
    ..do you have a large garden?  I'm amazed at the number of roses you have.. I want to see Deelish especially..

    I have garden area around 100x40 feet not including patio. I have created beds along each length side.

    There is an L shape bed around driveway in front of the house, which has existing shrubs which also I can use for rose in future if I remove those shrubs. Haven't decided on that yet.

    Out of my new roses a lot of them will go in pots around summer house. I will see how it all goes in next 2-3 years. I won't have space for everything in mature size in garden so eventually some roses will have to go.

    Thanks for the info on dog rose stock, @Marlorena, I guess I will know what own root looks like next year if my cuttings of Munstead Wood take off. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone’s selections next year. Like @newbie77 I don’t have room in the ground for everything I have got, it will be trial by fire in my summer heat. The flower-power and fragrance of Dee-Lish sounds amazing. For some reason I thought it was only available in the US, but TCL sell it as Line Renaud/Elbflorenz. Multiple name confusion!

    @Nollie, trial by fire - like the phrase. Mine are going through trial by water. Couple of holes that I had dug are still full of water so many days later.

  • My lists:

    new roses

    Just my replacement/2nd Lady Emma Hamilton
    but from cuttings - the Generous Gardener and Royal Jubilee

    Roses I’m most excited about this coming year

    My coming up to third year roses - Royal Jubilee and the Generous Gardener but especially Malvern Hills because it put on such a great display this year and has now grown bigger, filled in more and covered more of the building.

    My Kew Gardens cuttings - because I’m interested to see what they do now that they’ve had that year in pots.

    Vanessa Bell & Desdemona - because they were both first year roses that performed amazingly, so can’t wait to see what they do in their second year.
