One of the main reasons hospitals are so full, ambulances are unable to unload, operations are being cancelled, is because of the number of patients with COVID and flu.
A high number of these people are not fully vaccinated, if they were, they might not have needed hospital and another persons operation might not have been cancelled.
Vaccination does more than protect you, it indirectly benefits others.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
. You could have been asymptomatic and still spread it around.
@B3 You mean I'm Typhoid Mary? How comes that no-one got ever sick when being in contact with us? Or do you seriously believe that people who use their common sense are not capable to judge a situation?
@Skandi Apart from the Covid 19 entry in the Gardeners World forum, it's nowhere else an issue.
@debs64 I knew that getting the mRNA was wrong, and I had no chance t get the AZ again, they didn't give it to me. As I said, I only did the idiotic third jab fearing the German border control required to have 3 jabs. I still regret it to have done it.
@punkdoc Looking at the gov website, figures cannot be compared to what was in January 2021. We are 2 years on.
Get a life, guys. Get out, it's over. Start trusting other people again.
And the current situation at the NHS, you read the same in newspapers other countries. They all face the same issues as aftermath of Covid. Parents had to wait with their children at the A&E in Germany for hours lying in the floor because there was no doctor and bed.
@Dovefromabove, not only is it sensible to have regular vaccines for flu/ COVID, I would suggest it is irresponsible not to. Most of us are aware of the high number of cancelled operations, due in part to the number of people with viruses, currently occupying hospital beds, so by having your vaccines, not only are you reducing your chances of getting very sick, but are increasing the chances of others having their operations.
Yes, get out, have a life, but take sensible precautions.

@Simone_in_Wiltshire my OH is waiting for a hip replacement, over 3 years. It has just been cancelled for the 6th time because the hospital is full of patients with Covid and 'flu. Though 3 of those cancellations were other reasons.
I think it it selfish towards others not to have vaccinations. Covid is part of the reason why the hospital staff are overworked and the ambulances are queueing for hours to get patients into A&E.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
I don't know how often we have to say it - it's about protecting others, not just yourself. Keeping folk out of our overstretched, under pressure hospitals. My daughters have both worked right through the pandemic, and have had even more cr*p to deal with than they usually get because many people don't give a damn about anyone but themselves.
Have a bit of care - please. Jeez. How hard can it be?
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
I am going into hospital next week for an operation, I am up to date with my booster jabs as I feel this is only right for me and other people, I am required to have a PCR test within 72 hours of going for my operation, these are all sensible precautions.
Good luck with the op @floralies ... hope all goes well for you
My younger brother is being treated for incurable cancers ... he has been told he has several years of a reasonable quality of life ahead of him to enjoy his flock of grandchildren, but if he contracts Covid he will not be admitted to hospital, and it is likely to kill him.
The husband of a woman who works in the farm shop I go to is being treated for a similar condition ... she has to be very careful not to take Covid home to him, for the same reason.
My son in law has an inherited condition which makes him vulnerable and he is likely to be very ill should he contract Covid.
If I know of three such people it is likely that there are quite a few out there in the community ... it is everyone's responsibility to do what we can to protect the vulnerable .. to do otherwise is just downright extremely selfish.

And reading that statistic, it's not Covid that keeps the hospitals occupied: https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/details/healthcare?areaType=nation&areaName=England
