Looks like I won't be eligible for the vaccine this time :(. @punkdoc , do you know if there's a reason (besides reducing cost) for the age limit being different from the one for free flu vaccines which I do get (assuming they haven't changed it for this year)?

Yes, although they would deny it, cost is the reason.

There is new solid research connecting Long Covid/ME and blood clotting (building on results from the last few years). It's exciting for other auto-immune syndromes too. It will have implications for MS.

Is it now considered to be a variant of concern? Is it causing more serious illness than the other Omicron variants

It is too new to know that yet, but the concern is, it seems to be able to mutate more easily than other variants.

  • Do you know if all of the UK are bringing forward the boosters? I have only seen the headline with regards to England…punkdoc said:
Hopefully most people are already aware of this, or no longer care, but there are 2 new variants of COVID, which are causing some concern.
Therefore the Gov. will be bringing forward the Autumn boosters, for which everyone over 65 and some people with severe underlying conditions will be eligible.

Sorry, I am only involved with NHS England, so no idea what the other UK countries are doing.

Thought it might be. I'd pay for it if it was available (again, like flu jabs are for those who are younger, if they want it).
