Another thought on overstretched health services, they better start training more midwives. No sport, no pub, working from home  what will all these young fit folk do ? We will start finding out around next December & January methinks.  :D

Regarding the loo roll panic buying, I read a study that said that when people are at risk of infection, such as during a pandemic, sensitivity to disgust rises. People feel a greater urge to ‘keep clean’. Add to that the ‘everyone else is doing it’ mentality, and here we are...

    A smart answer.

Yes. I have read speculations about that. Divorce rate will either plummet or rocket. Perhaps the plummet crowd and the rocket crowd will cancel each other out.

Lots of speculation of a fast rising suicide rate.

Not just speculation ... someone I know went missing last week ... desolate and desperate as he has just moved his company (involved in tech servicing for events) to bigger premises and taken on a couple of new apprentices. Thankfully the police found him after he’s been gone a couple of days and he’s back with his family and getting emotional support ... but he won’t be the only one feeling like that. 😭

Aye- keep it cheery @Fire... :o

@Lizzie27- bearing in mind you'll only have had a couple of minutes contact with the postie, don't get yourself overly worried  :)
Re the t'interweb entrepreneurs, [polite term] my daughter informed me yesterday that some delightful people had been buying hand gel, and were then trying to flog it online.
Fortunately, they got caught. Serves 'em right.

We have been in lockdown for nearly a week now. Everyone here is taking precautions but behaving very calmly. Everyone is just doing their normal shop, it’s not rammed and nobody is panic buying or hoarding so there are supplies of most things. At the supermarket this morning, people were arriving gloved up or being handed them at the door if not, politely keeping the designated social distance and giving way in the aisles. At the till, all were waiting 2m apart, being very orderly and careful not to come into contact with the essential worker scanning the goods. They would be astonished to hear of the UK bedlam and fisticuffs over the last bag of pasta or loo roll!

I also shopped for my neighbour, who is heavily pregnant, a first-time, older mum to be. She is really concerned for her baby and is feeling a bit lost and overwhelmed. Her husband has just returned from abroad so is also isolating and doesn’t want to take the risk of any cross-contamination by going out. I am doing my best to reassure them both and the handover was done at a distance, with her transferring the cost of the shop into my bank account so we don’t have to have that contact either.

Our strategy is that it is not in the house (so far as we are aware) and we intend to keep it that way. Gate handle, car, hands, even footwear are sanitised before reentering the property. Other than that, all is normal and we are not worried, just being careful. We are lucky enough to have plenty of space here and enjoying the peace and quiet.

The evil little gits who get drugs on prescription (probably free) and then flog them online on ebay sites and the like.  Currently there are 19 bids totalling  £44  on a 100 pack of paracetamol which is a prescription only size.
