The reason we get so many colds is the different strains that sweep through the country. Even those of us that get the injection for flu are protected from only a couple of them. With this covid19 we hope it doesn't mutate into another strain,  or at least if it did not as virulent.

I get far fewer colds and flu since I stopped commuting on public transport, and the ones I do get are normally after a trip to London (trains, underground, busy hotels, bigger/more crowded offices). If we keep up the social distancing at least to some extent, we should all get fewer colds.
I'm starting to wonder if the best we can realistically hope for with COVID-19 is for it to mutate into a less nasty strain.

Catching multiple colds is not just due to different strains, the disease produces very little immune response, so it is quite possible to catch the same strain, time and time again.
Sorry @Rik56, I don't know the answers to your questions.

There’s a lot of difference between ‘feeling fit and healthy’ to actually being it.
My stepdaughters friend, farm girl, very fit out in all weathers, went for a walk and had a fatal heart attack, came as a shock to everyone.
I feel fit and healthy apart from osteoarthritis which is just wear and tear on the joints, but if studies on blood tests are to be believed, my blood group doesn’t stand a chance.

Not many answers to COVID, out of our hands apart from staying away from people just in case.  What else can we do.

Never felt more like selling up and moving to a remote smallholding.

We have been shielding and I still managed to got a common cold.

Not sure social distancing at 2 meters is really enough. Covid -19 is here to stay now and neither my OH or myself can risk catching it. Hard to see what to do other than stay in a form of lockdown permanently.

The only difference I have found to date, is that the Rhinovirus attaches to cells in the nose as it likes a cooler environment 32°, whereas Corona virus likes it warmer at 37° , and that the Corona is a bigger molecule than the Rhinovirus. So the colds we get that give us a runny/stuffy nose are probably Rhinovirus.🤔
    Hope this helps @Rik56

A farm near me is up for sale. 55 acres of wild flower meadows and ancient woodland spanning both sides of a dead-end valley with a shared private road. It's an amazing spot that's just sadly too near the town and risk of constant trespass by local idiots. If it was only a bit more remote I'd be sorely tempted.

If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
