Has anyone else noticed that the countries with the healthiest lifestyle, Australia and New Zealand, with a large population who get out there and exercise in the sunshine, often in skimpy attire, topping up their Vit D levels and hence immune system, have really squashed the curve. Given how many chinese students they have coming and going, I would have expected  Covid to really take off there early on.  I hope everyone took full advantage of the past few weeks of sunshine here, it could make all the difference to your immune system.  I confess I broke lockdown to take a birthday card and present to my radiographer friend last week.  I put them on her doorstep, we rang the bell then stepped 10 ft back. When she answered we then sang Happy Birthday.  She had not long got in from work.  I have to say she looked tired out.  So far her daughter(a dentist) has had it but she has not, even though all Covid patients are being chest x rayed.

Our cleaners wear full PPE if they are in a ‘red zone’ (positive patients) and the lesser PPE in the ‘amber zone’ (lower risk areas). The domestic staff I work with are amazing and hard-working - true members of our team and we are very grateful to them.

A big difference between us and them we are over crowded some stats here
New Zealand 4.8 million population and more space
Australia is about 32 times bigger than United Kingdom.
United Kingdom is approximately 243,610 sq km, while Australia is approximately 7,741,220 sq km. Meanwhile, the population of United Kingdom is ~64.4 million people (41.2 million fewer people live in Australia).
    67 million in U.K. now

My cousins live in Australia, as soon as they heard of the virus they closed everything down, no one in no one out, even from state to state.
they still went stupid with the toilets rolls though.

Raw figures of population size and area give misleading information. More significant is the % of the population that is urbanised because they are much more likely to contract COVID-19, and the amount of land they occupy.

In the UK 56 million occupy 15,000 square kms - 3,700 per square km
In Australia 22 million occupy 17,000 square kms - 1,300 per square km
In New Zealand 4.3 million occupy 5,100 square kms - 820 per square km.

These figures, plus the fact that in the Southern Hemisphere it is Autumn moving towards Winter so maybe social interaction is less, help to explain the differences between the three nations.

Australia and New Zealand have a much more robust system of checking people/imports. Far more is refused entry whether it be things or people. They are much more self sufficient,  so can cope better than us too.

France confirms retests have shown they had cases in December going undiagnosed. It all adds weight to what people are theorising about having had the virus before the first cases were confirmed in this country as well.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
