Spent yesterday alternating between reading my book and gardening - the book was coming to an exciting conclusion and I couldn't concentrate on the garden. Anyway, it's finished now, very good but a bit too serious and depressing given what's going on in the world at the moment. So today 100% gardening. I am moving plants around based on their success and failures last year. No real need but I have to find something to do. I did manage to squash a few lilly beetles yesterday too so that was rather satisfying - I am on a mission now to get the rest of them.
I also went to the supermarket, probably 10 minutes in total in the shop, only two other people in there and well stocked, the broccoli was a bit yellow but other than that everything as normal. However, I got myself in a bit of a tizz trying to wash everything when I got home, including the steering wheel, handbrake, gearstick and indicators in the car as well as all the packets - kept worrying about what I had managed to touch, keys, handbag zip..... frightening when you think about it, but did the best I could. There are no cases so far in our village, but difficult not to get carried away with your imagination when you see the news. Someone told me to leave my shoes upside-down outside in the sunshine....where do you draw the line?
I do hope you are all managing, regards bills and things they can't evict everyone or cut everybody's electric & gas off, they will just have to wait. Here in France it is not allowed to evict people over the winter months and they have now extended that period by 3 months I believe. I am sure something will be applied in other countries too - adding starving homeless people to the problem won't solve anything.
Anyway, lovely day again so I am off outside. I really ought to have got handcream yesterday though, what with frenzied washing of hands and gardening my skin is like dried newspaper.

Try not to panic too much @Dordogne Damsel Worrying times, but if you're taking all the precautions, that's the best route. My hands are always like sandpaper I'll have to get someone to get me milk I think, but that's about all probably. My efforts to get some kind of home delivery or even a C&C by next Monday onwards have resulted in a lot of nothing. Either no slots till much later or the sites just aren't working. Girls said their Dad would get some stuff, and I can ask a couple of people if I have to, but other people have enough to deal with themselves, so I'm trying to avoid it. I hope all these selfish hoarders and panic buyers are proud of themselves. Oldest fairylet seems ok anyway, and ate a dinner again last night. She's my only real concern just now. I don't know why people just don't get it though. There was police drone footage on the news earlier. People driving to beauty spots for a walk - @punkdoc's neck of the woods, Peak District, mainly. If you can't walk to a site, don't go. How is that difficult to understand? They're now talking of closing these areas off. Well done all those ****wits. You've stopped local folk using their own facilities. Sorry. Should have put that on the other thread...

Good morning. After a misty start it's sunny but very cold cos of the wind. Oh has had a grumpy start. You'd think, after 39 years, he'd be used to my having "good ideas".
Anyway, we have cleared everything we might need in the next few months out of the room of the ruin next to our garage ready for the swallows to return and build their nests in peace. I've screwed a piece of perspex across most of the window frame to keep out wind, rain and deter pussycat but leave a decent gap at the top for the birds.
Next I shall sort out the garden shed while he's down the bottom of the garden strimming with his ear muffs on so no more grumping for now.
We've just discovered that the farm shop a couple of villages away is taking emailed orders to pick up ........ I phoned and they said they have most things in stock and have supplies coming in all the time, so I've sent an order to collect on Monday. They have a proper butchery and lots of fresh veg as well as locally milled flour etc so i've ordered enough to fill our small freezer ... plus dry goods, as our W'rose didn't have much meat and no flour or porridge when we went the other day.
Rather than keep going back to a supermarket on the off-chance they have something in, we think it's better to drive a bit further down the road and just collect our order. That way we really can stay at home for at least three weeks, maybe quite a bit more, without needing to go out at all.

We’ve got littlest chicklet home 🎉🎉🎉. Long and pretty stressful journey, but they were eventually allowed to stop and refuel in Singapore, but no getting off the plane. She’s now settling herself in next doors flat. So relieved to have her home, even if no hugs for a fortnight. Our MP has been brilliant (even though I’ve never voted for him 😜) as have British Airways. A worthy national carrier. I will never, ever use Emirates again ☹️.
Not sure how I feel about the fuss about people driving places to go for a walk. So long as they social distance when they are there I can’t see the problem. Are all “country folk” going to be banned from ever entering a town when all this is over? Leaving the town facilities for the “locals” only?
I've just heard that too. Hope he's OK. Just done the rest of the ironing while watching Homes Under the Hammer, clothes today, sheets yesterday. Thank goodness for TV and Internet. Just off to get some fresh air while washing the outside window sills.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
So glad you have her home @chicky I think the problem is that when you drive somewhere, you're at risk right away, as you might break down. That means emergency services getting involved, or at least, breakdown services. It all adds to the pressure unnecessarily. Also, national parks are also working environments, and if there are loads of people using stiles and gates, farmers and other workers have to take that into account.
Chicklet's journey home reminded me of my BIL, who just got back from the Philippines the other day, after a difficult set of flights etc. He hadn't been home 24 hours and my sister was looking for a flight to put him back on....

I hope you get your milk OK @Fairygirl and that the fairylets are better. Lovely day for gardening @Dordogne Damsel and shed sorting @WonkyWomble.
Those wattles look very much like our mimosas @Pat E - far too many flipping babies all over the place.
Try and enjoy the day everyone. Stay safe.
