Afties all. You got it in one. I did make a swift dash to visit rellies as I had to hand over some stuff to be taken on the Eskdale holiday. The drive was very unpleasant and I saw some spectacular lightning but the further south I got the more the weather improved. I took to rellies the bad news that the north bound M6 from Junction 33-34 was completely closed because of a bad accident. We leave the M6 at Junction 36 to travel cross country to Eskdale. Luckily on my return journey, the matrix sign, advising of this, switched off so I was able to ring them before they left their homes to give them the good news that the M6 was open again
Ante I'm sorry that you are still feeling low with your cold. I hope it is not like the one I have - into fourth week now. T'Bird, good luck with your letter - dip your pen in vitriol! Debs, I hope that the house passes muster and you can get the refurbishments you would like. I heard the news about Caroline Flack on TV this morning but I had never even heard of her before. When I saw the programmes she was associated with I realised WHY I had never heard of her. Still sad when anyone takes their own life.

T'Bird, that sounds like an eminently sensible idea. I'm sure a G&T would not go amiss either. BTW, I'm with your OH on not wishing to lead an enthusiastic gang of cyclists in wind and rain. I 'fess up - I'm a wuss too. Oh and I did forget that I cannot ride a bike either. I suspect that might be an important skill to possess.

Hello everyone. I didn’t wake up to 1pm I needed to catch up on some sleep. I could hardly keep my eyes open. Hazel hope you keep wrapped up for a while if you’ve turned the ch off. Hope you feel better soon. I went out and I hailed some fresh air. Ante get better soon. LB it’s good you’ve been to see your rellies and catch up but be careful. Chive I’ve had breakfast and lunch more or less one after the other two quite busy days. Topbird hope you’ve bundled yourself up and having a warm drink.
Oh it’s lovely having a lazy half afternoon with feet up on the sofa! Cup of tea soon I think (G&T later LB!).
Hazel - hope you & OH feel better soon - horrid little virus. I’m thoroughly fed up with thinking - it’s gone - no it’s back - now it’s gone - oh no....
The planning application is for an office (4 employees) and workshop with parking for 5 cars. All at the end of our little 2.5m wide dead-end country lane - no street lights, no passing places. Unit would be built on the only turning space on the road - which means emergency, agricultural and commercial vehicles (incl oil tankers & lorries) would need to reverse half a mile down an unlit, narrow lane with no pavement or wide verges for the many walkers / horse riders etc (who use the road daily) to escape to. At the end of the lane the HGVs and delivery vans would have to reverse past the village playing field onto a main road at a school bus stop near a road junction. FFS🤨
Can you tell my objection is centreing on road safety? Not to mention the inappropriateness of a modern commercial unit next to listed buildings at the end of a very quiet country lane in a dark skies area.
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
That is the latest totally daft idea I have heard TBird .There is a tiny lane near a playing field ,not far from us . It was closed off many years ago , because it was a danger to children crossing to a nearby school.A couple of years ago it was widened at the top near a road junction .The lane was resurfaced and preparations were made to re-open it . Not many weeks later we were walking toward the bottom of the lane and new barriers had been erected . We walked to the top of the lane and even bigger barriers were erected there ???
Topbird whatever are they thinking? Obviously unsafe so hope good sense prevails.
I too wouldn’t watch Love Island but remember CF on strictly a few years ago it’s such a shame.
This lurgy is a lingerer and the cough seems to be the worst but so hope everyone feels better soon.
Glad you got hone safe LB not much fun driving in this weather. Been pouring down all day here pretty well. I just hope we are getting all the rain over now so will have a good summer!
I don’t relish the thought of the mess and disruption of a new kitchen but it is pretty grotty and tired so needs must.
House is now cleaner and I am relaxing with the kitty cats in a warm house with a glass of wine.
T'Bird, that sounds completely bonkers. How these johnnies in their offices can decide something as draconian as that, in such a restricted area, will work perfectly without causing any sort of inconvenience to residents leaves me baffled. I often think that about the johnnies in Whitehall who think banging up houses willy nilly anywhere north of the Wash, without giving any thoughts to infrastructure and welfare of others in the area is equally as bonkers.

Went to the SM - got soaked walking from store to car. Thinking about lighting the fire and just hunkering down for the rest of the afternoon.
