Great news about having a personal input to the kitchen design Debs. It will make it feel more 'yours'. Chive, I've dropped really lucky with this milkman - I'm so glad big 'Eddy' knocked on my door last year. Its lovely to get up and find the milk sitting on the step. I can order all sorts of dairy related products online - it amused me to discover I have a 'MOO Account'. Milk Order Online. Very appropriate. I am placing an order for my bio yoghurt drinks today. Pack of 7 so a once a week addition to my regular order.

    Morning - I want a MOO account now😁

Debs - I’m glad you’re able to say what you’d like in your kitchen. I highly recommend spending some time at various kitchen showrooms - there are some ingenious storage solutions around. The 2 favourite things I chose for my kitchen were the pull out corner shelving for saucepan storage (no more lifting heavy piles of pans to get to the one at the back) and the big deep, wide drawer which has a cutlery tray on top and all my herbs, spices, stock cubes etc underneath. No more rummaging around in cupboards for a little jar of cumin seeds. I also highly recommend induction hobs if the budget runs to it. Much more controllable heat than either gas or halogen hobs and just a wipe over to keep clean - wonderful. You need the right pans but I imagine your fiance knows all about that.

Apparently FIL had a reasonable night (unlike Rubee!) so yet another day of indecision about what to do....

Morning T'Bird. Some decisions to make then. Would your OH like you to join him for support or is he happier for you just to stay put? That sounds a bit odd but I'm sure you know what I mean. My sis has an induction hob which she took to her caravan in France. Its brilliant! I have given serious thought to getting one for myself. I'd have to check that my pans are suitable.

Topbird thinking of you and your family.  It’s good that oh is close and supporting mum.  He’ll be missing you.  Debs you’ll have lots to look at for your home improvements and to decide what to do first.  Debs I’m glad your son is so much better and has been eating well.  Chive hope you and oh are keeping warm in this wild weather.

Chive, I have discovered that I am the queen of displacement activities. I know that I need to do stuff but I find something else to distract me. Story of my retirement life.

Debs I’m so pleased you were able to rescue the mouse.  I had a little hamster once.  I’d been for acupuncture in the city centre and had just popped in the markets and went into a pet shop.  I noticed a small hamster in a small sandwich box on a stool that had an eye deformity and no one would buy her.  I was worried for her future so they gave me her for free and I paid for the bedding and food etc.  I had two cats at the time so she lived in the bath.  She was let out to play every day and loved her hamster wheel.  I’d named her Lucy Hathaway and I had her for 2.5 years before she passed away.  She was a charming little thing.  Chive I’m okay I’m just not looking forward to going to hospital tomorrow.  I’ve been doing the i*****g and little jobs though.  LB I think displacement can affect us all to a greater or smaller degree.   I get distracted too.

Logs all stacked, huge pot of (very spicy!!) Indonesian pork chuntering away, meter reading done, oven racks cleaned, bills paid - it must be nearly time to light the fire and have a cuppa. First I need to get a shower and wash my hair.

Had sort of decided I was going to head up to Yorks very early tomorrow morning so I could go to the hospital with MIL and OH for the afternoon, stay o/night, quick visit Fri lunchtime and then head home about 2pm. But OH is thinking about coming home so who knows what will happen? He'll let me know what he wants to do later on.

They think FIL may be stabilising now which is good news. I'll feel a whole lot happier when he's on a regular ward without lots of tubes sticking out of him and starts complaining about hospital food.

Has anybody tried those dots or flowers you stick onto the bottom of a bath tub or shower tray to make it non-slip? I told MIL they were available and 'somebody' said they were good - but I can't remember who or when. Seem to be quite a few brands around and I'd like to suggest something that's been tried and tested by somebody I 'know'.

Tbird I have several on the bottom of my bath ,I wouldn’t dare get in the bath without them . If the instructions for putting them on are followed they work very well . But it’s not enough to clean the bath in the normal way . The instructions on my stickers required something like acetone to clean the area before putting them on . I guess different manufacturers could recommend something else. The only downside is they get a fine line of mould round each sticker over time .It isn’t a problem to remove . I use a normal bathroom mould spray, then sluice it away after a few minutes .
I hope this info is useful TBird.
Ps I can’t remember which brand of stickers I have . I have had them such a long time . I got them on the big river site . As long as the stickers have a grainy surface I would think they will be ok .
