  • In that case @steveTu it’s a huge vote of faith for Kamala Harris 👍

@steveTu American politics is quite different to ours, Boden got the nod for the Democrats because he is very middle of the road. Most of the other candidates were seen to far left/socialist to be able to win the presidential race, remember America is very, very, very anti socialist by the large majority tax regimes are extremely low and people don't or won't put up with high taxes. Joe Biden has had to promise that the 40% tax rate will only drop, yes drop, to $400,000 it's way higher under trump. That's why a dothery old guy has beaten trump and most people expect that Kamala Harris will finish the 4 year run as President then run as the incumbent next time. Anyway it's not all over yet we have loads more entertainment to come from trump yet has he spends the equivalent of a small countries national budget trying drag it through the courts for several more months

I read that he's getting Federal law involved in the localised (alleged) State voting irregularities that would normally be investigated by the States themselves. Looks like this may be a long, drawn out departure!

The announcement of a vaccine for Covid surely has to be a RTBC.  Yes, it's still early days, and distribution looks like being difficult, but it does show there is hope of a return to some form of normality in the not too distant future.

@steveTu indeed it does, I've been listening to the BBC Americast podcast with Jon Sopel, Emily Maitlis and Anthony Zurcher (he's a yank) all year and it's been really excellent. It's certainly helped me understand the "American way" much better.

Basically America is made up of the decedent's of all the most vocal cultish people of there day who left there own countries or were driven out and wanted to form a new world, they are extremely partisan to this day. Someone like Jeremy Corbyn would never get a foot in there political system (that's not me saying he's wrong it's just fact).

I used to follow it via the BBC's 100 days (then 100+ Days, then Beyond 100 Days) with Katty Kay and Christian Fraser - Ron Christie's look of horror at The Don's antics always made me smile.
I hope the Beeb brings the show back with the same presenters - it was a good daily insight into the goings on over there.
