I left the house today for the first time in about three weeks - a veterinary emergency as the cat had cystitis.

Driving to the surgery I could not help but look round in wonderment. England is just so beautiful. Emerald green fields were laced by hedgerows where may blossom was like a bridal wreath. Cow parsley was billowing into the road and there were the odd punctuation mark of magnificently blossomed horse chestnuts. In the villages stone cottages were dripping with pastel coloured wisteria and in the gardens scented lilac was in profusion.

To top it all the cat seems brighter this evening.
I know deliveries have gone through the roof, but it's a joy to drive around and have hardly any traffic. Easier to slow down and enjoy the view.
    Devon.

We were this morning admiring the beautiful 'candle' blossom on the big chestnut tree we pass most mornings. Close up they are exquisite.

And....we have cow parsley on our side of the road for the first time.

    can't shift the bold!
Anyway, one of my earliest memories is of my dad climbing a horse chestnut tree to get me a candle. The next one of him is climbing over railings to pull our jack russel out of the Little Venice canal where he'd gone for a swim and couldn't get out

I had a bath with Imperial Leather soap last night. The luxury! Not seen any since before lockdown locally and had to slum it with Dove. It's the little things.  :)

My favourite too.  I always got some from someone in the family at Christmas.  Now in France for a number of years - all was forgotten until I went to Delhi 2 years ago and bought some sandalwood soap.  I knew the smell reminded me of something, then it hit me!  Ah!  Imperial Leather.  Needless to say, I bought lots!!  My suitcase smelt delish!
A good hoeing is worth two waterings.
