My niece was waiting for a delivery, being delivered by YODEL. The app showed her as the next delivery, and then delivered, but it hadn't arrived at her house! She contacted YODEL who confirmed it had been delivered but to a different address. The address is 2 roads away and starts with the same letter of the alphabet! YODEL claimed they couldn't contact the driver and it would take them 2 days to get somebody to collect it and redeliver. Her husband went round to the address to ask if they had an unexpected delivery. An elderly lady answered the door, confirmed she had taken the delivery in assuming her husband had ordered something without telling him and in her words "Gave him a right bollocking before he could explain he hadn't ordered anything"
Problem solved plus a laugh at the end of it. Confirmation, if required, that YODEL are crap.
We are about to feast on home-made butterbean soup with lashings of garlic, and hot bread - the ones you buy half-baked. Followed by some up-market mince pies which a dear lady we know from church, recently widowed but always thinking of other people, brought to our door this afternoon.
Among the many silly sayings our family enjoys, we will probably ask each other over the dinner table, "If it's bean soup, what is it now?" Say it aloud, and if you still don't get it, say "been" instead of "bean".
My seed order arrived today, the boys have gone to bed before 9 and Christmas dinner is all fully prepped. That is 3 huge RTBC, have a brilliant Christmas everyone 😃😃
This morning I said to my missus that I was just going out the back to check for any damage. "Why should there be any damage?" she asked. "Because of the storm last night" I said. "What storm?" said she. The wonders of a bottle of Prosecco.
I've just realised why one of my house plants is doing ridiculously well. We have a radiator on either side of the French doors with an underfloor pipe connecting them. The plant sits on the floor above the pipe. Now I know where my seed trays are going next year
Here in western Ireland our sunrise wasn't until 8.47 this morning. But the RTBC is that sunset, already getting later here as elsewhere, will be at 16.26, whereas in Todmorden where I used to live, it'll be at 15.56. Sunrise there was at 8.26 this morning - but I'd rather have my days skewed the way they are now, with more light at the end of the day...
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
