of the 122,000 "tests", 40,000 of them were still in the post at the end of the day, so they DIDN'T  "test" 100,000. They FAILED.

Perhaps it's because we live in a very small overcrowded island?

Somebody asked the question yesterday about the situation in New Zealand compared to the UK.  The response was along the lines of NZ having approximately the same land mass as the UK but a population of 4.5 million compared to over 60 million for the UK.  Small and overcrowded indeed.

    Reason to be cheerful.
A German couple came into store last summer to buy snack for their drive home. Someone had given them out of date £10 notes in their change and that was all the cash they had so my colleague " good willed" their shopping to them.

Yesterday a parcel arrived with 100 hand made face masks from them.

"We had hoped to come back this summer but it can not happen and this is the only way we can think to show our gratitude and to say we haven't forgotten your kindness"

A friend posted this ... it made me smile ... and thankful we have clever doctors ... but I don't think our doctors get US salaries ...

A mechanic was removing a cylinder-head from the motor of a Harley motorcycle when he spotted a well-known cardiologist in his shop. The cardiologist was waiting for the service manager to take a look at his bike, when the mechanic shouted across the garage: "Hey, Doc, want to take a look at this?"

The cardiologist, a bit surprised, walked over to the mechanic, who straightened up, wiped his hands on a rag and asked, "So Doc, look at this engine.

"I open its heart, take the valves out, repair any damage, and then put them back in, and when I finish, it works just like new. So how come I make $39,000 a year and you get $1.5 million when you and I are doing basically the same work?"

The cardiologist paused, smiled and leaned over, then whispered to the mechanic.....

"Try doing it with the engine running."

It's been a rather nice sunny day, just right for gardening.

I left the house today for the first time in about three weeks - a veterinary emergency as the cat had cystitis.

Driving to the surgery I could not help but look round in wonderment. England is just so beautiful. Emerald green fields were laced by hedgerows where may blossom was like a bridal wreath. Cow parsley was billowing into the road and there were the odd punctuation mark of magnificently blossomed horse chestnuts. In the villages stone cottages were dripping with pastel coloured wisteria and in the gardens scented lilac was in profusion.

To top it all the cat seems brighter this evening.
