Isn't it some sort of ism to assign a gender to the word 'husband'?

I very nearly got caught out on that today.  In order to protect my status as a living being I was looking for a Valentine card for her indoors.  First one I picked up had a lovely cover until I spotted the sticker stating "Wife - same sex".

    I once bought a christmas card " to my Husband " .
" I think you've made a mistake " said the girl at the till.
    " no, I haven't"
    "oh, sorry"

I once got a card from my PITAOH. It said Happy Birthday Son (crossed out). He said he hadn't noticed when he bought it. My mum denied any involvement - but I knew😡
    Good job it wasn't a Valentine's card.
