My sister gave me a clump of a miniature Angels Fishing Rods, dierama pulcherimum. When I planted it I did not realize it was full of grass seeds which have steadily taken over the clump. I had to dig up the whole clump and then attempt to separate the bulbils from the grass roots. Now I have to wash each of the bulbils to get rid of any grass seeds before replanting. [...]
I find this is a fairly frequent problem with "given plants", either exchange between friends/family or plants exchange events. When I give away plant plugs on my "open garden days" I take great care to not include weeds (or, even worse, weevils or diseases). Of course, you may get those undesired weeds or bugs in plants you buy from GCs or nurseries as well, so...
Anyway, you did the right thing with your Dieramas. I hope in a few years' time you will be rewarded for your efforts.
My RTBC today - a butterfly fluttered by. We've had a second sunny day, which has been very welcome, so it must have thought spring has definitely arrived. Couldn't see what it was, as it fluttered by rather quickly, but it made me smile. Today is apparently World Sparrow Day. Nice to see plenty of them around earlier too.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
I am super cheerful today, lovely weather so lots of gardening. Came in for a cup of tea and found a note on the mat from a group of village volunteers offering help and delivery services.
More gardening, more tea and another note from my NDN who is now working from home and wanted to know if I was alright and did I need anything.
Daughter arrived with food parcel and cards and gifts for Sunday (and an iced spiced bun from M&S so more tea) and found another note on the mat from my other NDN also working from home and offering help.
I am truly fortunate to have such a lovely family and thoughtful neighbours. Having read some horror stories on this forum about neighbours I am counting my blessings!

It certainly does @Fairygirl and the M&S iced spiced buns are my total downfall!
Unfortunately they were not enough to poke me into an identification of my lovely flowers for Mothering Sunday. I keep thinking phlox but then I am just rubbish at flowers, what do you think?

A lovely spring-like day here, and more is promised. Got more brambles cleared, and managed to dig a bit of garden which has suffered from being used as a storage area by the builders. Meanwhile, the painter finished work in the extension, which is now ready to receive furniture...
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
We are back from collecting our online shopping order from Morrison’s that couldn’t be delivered cos the driver phoned in sick.
Looks as if we’ve only got half the number of things we ordered and half of them are substitutions ... and there’s no loo roll ... but we’ve still got some so we’ll manage.
We seem to have a free gift of something called Fruit Winders which have ingredients that aren’t normally part of our diet ... perhaps the Picker thought our diet was too boring and healthy 🤣

Glad you're ok @herbaceous. Hope you enjoyed the bun. Cake helps with almost every crisis doesn't it?
