I read somewhere the other day ( maybe it was on this site somewhere😊)that foreign robins who overwinter here are much less inclined to get close to humans than the locals.
Same in Belgium. Fed the birds every day in that garden for 23 years so multiple generations of babies growing up being fed by me and also seeing me in and about the garden for hours yet they all instantly flew to a safety zone the minute I moved.
Same here so far except when I was clearing a veggie bed last year and one brave robin pottered about just 2 metres away, for about 3 minutes.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.
"The price good men (and women) pay for indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil men (and women)."
Let joy be unconfined, today I acquired the simplest possible woman-powered rotary mower, for £15 in a charity shop. Tried it out, and I think it will be replacing the Flymo. No more yanking the cable around to avoid slicing through it.
