I planted a Myrtle in the spring. I didn't expect flowers this year, and they're supposed to flower in August, so I had accepted that I'd have to wait until next year. But today, this  . There are more buds too. Delightful.

Watching a squirrel efficiently bury an acorn in seconds, I had a brilliant idea!
What if we could train them to plant spring bulbs?

    In London. Keen but lazy.

They don't bury them deep enough though  ;)

I remember watching one in a previous garden, industriously taking a peanut from the feeder, and going and 'burying' it in the lawn [or what passed for lawn there - moss]. He spent ages doing it.
Every move he made was watched by a magpie, who just followed him round and retrieved each peanut.
I felt quite sorry for him :D

  • Good luck with that B3!

Just pottering around on the terrace and watching the end of the tour du 🇫🇷..... nice quiet afternoon before the craziness of the coming week... found out on Tuesday that I got a promotion I interviewed for in March before the lockdown, honestly thought it was a closed subject as we are having such a horrible year, but he ho... told on Tuesday, effective tomorrow! Happy and terrified at the same time😁😳

Squirrels and magpies. I saw something similar on You’ve Been Framed. A little girl was in an Easter Egg Hunt and was dutifully putting her bounty in a trug-like basket which half fell behind her back. None too surreptitiously her younger sister was following her round and assiduously taking out for herself every egg deposited in the basket.
