I've decided quite like doing the autumn tidy up. The bright, crisp sunny morning might be something to do with my unnaturally positive attitude😊

Did lots of fun things today.  Met a nice man who came to collect a piece of furniture we were Freecycling.  He had asked on the phone if he could give us some runner beans from his garden by way of thanks.  I declined, on the grounds that my garden is currently supplying half the street with runner beans.  So he brought us a big bag of apples.  I managed to palm off several unwanted plants on him.  He used to live in Brighton, as did we, so we enjoyed comparing memories of Brighton.

When he'd gone, OH and I re-arranged the AP's bedroom furniture to make better use of the space we'd just gained.  I enjoyed vacuuming up the dust and cobwebs and examining the collection of random small objects that had taken up residence under the bed.

Then it was time for some gardening.  Did a lot of staking and tying up, weeding and dead-heading and cutting back and yanking out in the rainbow border, it looks a lot more presentable.  Reflected that the back of the border at the red end, nearest the street, was rather empty, and wondered what to plant there.  Something tall.  I decided to buy lots more dahlias, and some decent stakes to support them.

As if emptying the compost bin were not a joyous enough occasion in itself, I found my long-lost Fiskars scissors near the bottom.  I'm so glad I hadn't bought a replacement.
  • That's definitely a cause for celebration, @josusa47 !  I'm hoping to find the shed key next time I turn the compost...   :/
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
