Lizzie, the fires aren’t near us thank goodness. I feel so sorry for the people who have lost their homes (about 150 homes I think)and of course the three dead and seven still missing. 🥺 They are expecting more hot windy weather today.
On a happier note, my son’s cat has a new friend. She sits at the front door and this young magpie arrives and they make little conversation noises to each other. Pixel is an inside cat so no danger of her getting out. This apparently happens each day.
Good morning all ☕️ it’s a bright sunny morning here in Norfolk ... and my phone says the Sheffield area will have a dry sunny day ... I hope that helps the flooded areas.
Hello @Pat E ... we’re thinking of all in the areas that are burning. Wish we really could send you some rain 🙄 Wonky’s cats sit by a window with a grille over it and watch the birds in the garden. They seem to enjoy it and don’t make an attempt to get through the wire.

Morning all/afties Pat. Nice little story and a relief from the weather down there. I can only send frost but not rain for a change. Hopefully the water will be subsiding today @punkdoc, and as you say, at least you're not on your own. I take it the water never got inside the house at all? We used to get flooded at my flat, on the fringes of the town. It was a well known area for it, although once they did some good alterations and defences further up river, it helped enormously. I don't think it floods there at all now. Better get out and feed the birds now that the mealworms are softened for Mr Magpie. I may need an extra layer. Minus 3 just now. My cold that had never materialised has decided to come with a nasty cough now. I shall be dosing myself up with various hot beverages today I think.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Hi all, I'm home all alone - OH and his friend have gone off to the Classic Car Show at the NEC, so I've a whole day to myself. Not sure what I'm going to do all day though as it doesn't look very enticing outside and it's only just over 5c. They've taken my car as well so a trip to the GC is out. Probably just as well! Looks like I'll have to do the ironing - groan. Just a thought for all those British living abroad and intending to vote in the general Election next month. Official advice is to appoint proxies to vote for you as postal voting forms cannot be guaranteed to get to you in time. I expect everyone who wants to has already got things well organised though.
