  • Hello all!  :)

Best wishes to @Pat E when she wakes up again, and to @punkdoc and Moira.  Been thinking of you... so glad the waters are receding at last.  There's been a bit of flooding around Todmorden where I used to be, but sunshine and showers here in County Clare.  This was my Arthur Turner apple tree yesterday morning:

We went to Limerick yesterday to look at lighting, and while we were in B&Q I sneaked a peek at the gardening section... in the reduced section were lots of winter-flowering heathers, so I chose 7, reduced from €12.50 to €3.50.  At the tills I found there was 16% off all gardening stuff so that took it down to €2.97... happy Liri!   :)

Tree planting is definitely on the gardening list here, @raisingirl .

Today we've been trying to puzzle out where to put the shed.  We have unexpectedly found a builder to do our extension, and he wants to start next week.  This is great news, especially as he comes highly recommended, and only takes on work he really wants to do, these days.  However, we're a bit concerned that he'll want to demolish the garage asap - the shed won't be delivered until the end of the month, so we may need to hire a container for all the stuff currently in the garage (some of which is destined for the house, but won't fit until the extension is built... sigh...)   :o
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

That sounds like quite a good problem to have @Liriodendron and a good haul from B&Q.   Does the extension include a new garage?  And what about a greenhouse?

@punkdoc, I'm so glad the water is dropping and that Moira is home, but sorry about the garden damage.

Just popping in but dinner is nearly ready. Duck in the oven for Chinese pancakes.

Have raked the leaves off half the driveway, made a flat, foam filled cushion for a dining room chair, used the left over curtain material, and watched 2 episodes of "The Accident". Oh and popped in to admire NDN's new kitten, cute but semi wild.

@Pat E  Hi Pat, just spent an hour watching Michael Portillo on the Indian Pacific, great programme tonight - superb scenery but don't fancy the desert bit. We did a train trip from Melbourne to Adelaide when we were over some years ago, but found it a bit tedious after half a day - and no kangeroos to my great disappointment!

Hope the bush fires are nowhere near you.

The rain is coming down heavily again, so we wait [ at least not home alone, this time ] I am parading around outside checking things [ checking what, there is nothing to check ? ]
No idea what I am doing, just feel I should do something.
