Another wet start to our day which is fine as no gardening planned, just sewing, cooking up a batch of bol sauce and maybe some h*****work before dance class this evening.
I await with interest to see what effect it will all have on the local fish markets we use @punkdoc. Plenty is caught locally but a lot is "north Atlantic" and probably British caught. Since she's in Aberdeen, maybe you could go with once or twice and get a Highland fix while she works?

Lovely idea @Obelixx, but it tends to be a day there, then maybe London, or York where she is supposed to be based. She doesn't really know where she will be from day to day. It is hard work, but probably only till Christmas, when the whole thing will be done, one way or another.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
Oh well. Maybe a day at the railway museum? And a treat at Betty's Tea Rooms?
Bol simmering. Lunch eaten. I'm off to sew and let my mind wander about on themes such as sowing, wildflower meadow, shrub and tree borders, new car options........

Horrible day today. At 2.00a.m. had a call from Mom's home to say they had called an ambulance for mum as she had a suspected DVT. They said they would phone me if the ambulance crew decided to take her into hospital. I waited at home for the call but it didn't come, eventually I phoned the hospital to find out where she was but they said they had no trace of her. I then called another hospital to be told she was in their A&E.
I was really annoyed as I specified in her notes that she was not to be taken to that hospital as we had had awful experiences with my Dad and Hubby's mom that resulted in one dying in agony (no doctor available to prescribe pain relief) and the other being misdiagnosed and having an op for stomach cancer (which she didn't have) and dying two weeks later from heart failure which they had failed to spot.
I then drove to the hospital to find mum hadn't yet seen anyone despite being there for 5 hours. She was finally seen by someone who said she needed a scan on her leg. 3 hours later they scanned her leg, by this time they had moved her out of the A&Ebay and into a corridor as they needed the bay. She stayed there for a while with about 6 other patients on trollies, eventually they moved her to a Medical Assessment Unit. I still couldn't get any sense out of anyone as to whether she would be moved to a ward or sent home. At 3.30 this afternoon they said a decision would be made at around 5.30 when the Consultant came round. I have come home, not having had a drink or anything to eat as I had no change for machines and I couldn't leave mom as she had no hearing aid or glasses with her so couldn't understand anything said to her by staff.
I have to call back at 6.30 to find out what they plan to do. If they decide to keep her in I will have to drive to the home and get her hearing aid etc and then drive to the hospital. I have no idea why they couldn't have sent her in with these essential items after all a deaf 97 year old is hardly in a position to give details about herself to medical staff. Very tired. Rant Over.
Oh no @Yviestevie what an ordeal. Not a good job from the home there. Aren’t they supposed to go with her? I hope everything is straightforward and your Mum is doing ok. Just come in from work so cuppa and headache tablets required. I’ll do a ‘round’ if anyone fancies a brew too.
Good news indeed @Pat E @Dovefromabove Did a SM run this morning and did nothing all afternoon - feel shattered. It seems to take me at least a day to get over long journeys/holidays these days. We wish we'd had longer to walk about Kings Lynn, another trip perhaps. That sounds awful @Yviestevie . Hope your Mum is okay. @Punkdoc - did you watch the excellent documentary by Ed Ball on UK fish exporters last week - they even sell fish to China! @Obelixx - music choices were:- 1. Days by Kirsty McColl 2. Neptune by Holst 3. Seven-and-a-Half Cents by Doris Day from The Pajama Game. I only met the lady twice so no idea of her musical tastes. I thought it rather an odd combination at a fairly formal (though not religious funeral).
Oh @Yviestevie ((hugs)) I’m afraid that is a familiar tale ... first time 90 year old Pa was taken from the Lovely Home to A&E 🙄 ... after that they ensured that a written sheet detailing his medical, communication and social needs was given to the paramedics to be handed over with Pa. Fortunately I wised up too and was able to ensure that the hospital knew I would be there to support him and that would make the A&E staffs’ work much simpler.
Hope things are more straightforward now ((hugs)). You have permission to rant if they’re not 😘 ☕️ 🍷 🍪

@Dovefromabove they say she can go home, but the home have a cut off of 5.00 and the hospital didn't get the medication sorted until after that time so she will be occupying a bed when she doesn't need to. I'm just so tired and drained. I'm getting a cuppa and going up to bed. As mum will be coming out in the morning she doesn't need her hearing aid, she'll probably get a better nights sleep without it. Thanks for your kind words folks.

Great to have your OH home too @Busy-Lizzie.
