Evening all. Just preparing a nice Autumn meal of pork and apple sausages with root veg. It sounds like many of us have had time apart from OHs with work stuff over the years. I have, although a week or so was the most time apart. When we were younger, we both worked shifts so sometimes we only ‘spoke’ via post-it notes for days on end. Punk - your super trowel/knife thing sounds like a weapon from Kill Bill! Enjoy your Friday evening everyone.
Managed to get a couple of hours in the garden this morning - first time this week. I got the last of the maincrop spuds up - a bit of slug damage but not too bad considering how late and how wet it is. NewDog decided he likes chewing the leaves of the Florence fennel (of which I have quite a good crop this year). Not catastrophic for the fennel, but unfortunately the most comfy spot to enjoy this snack is sitting on the late (and therefore still young) leeks. NewDog was therefore banned from the veg garden.
I really miss OldDog. He used to just sit and watch me, he'd catch the occasional vole or rat that made too much noise, but basically he was a chilled out hound. I have, of course, completely forgotten how, when he was NewDog's age, he used to dig up every plant about 1 minute after I planted it. And if that didn't work, he'd steal the washing off the line and do a few laps round the lawn with it. And if I STILL ignored him he'd bury his trophy in the flower beds. I imagine the new residents of that house have frequently been puzzled to find random items of underwear under the roses.
Storm Lorenzo is blowing over us now - nothing much to notice - a bit blowy and rather wet. More rain tomorrow. We've been painting and decorating all week and will be moving furniture again tomorrow. Getting there though.
@Dordogne Damsel I don't think we've been introduced - lovely to meet you Looking a bit damp up your way this weekend Fairy - will you get out for a walk, do you think? Hope you enjoy having Moira home for the weekend, PunkD. Belated well done AuntyR - hope you can now put your feet up, feeling very smug Sad news, Dove. Don't work too hard, those that work the weekends. Have fun, everyone else

Hi folks, Back from a couple of days on Nanna Duty and feeling shattered, even Jonah asked me if I was tired this afternoon, very perceptive for a 3 year old. Hoping to find enough energy to get some gardening done tomorrow as I'm taking Jonah and Gabriel over to Firstborn's to see Merri and Mabel on Sunday afternoon as it's supposed to rain all day.

Well done @punkdoc. Always good to get a bit of planting done and even better when a new toy works.
