Hi @punkdoc šI know what you mean ... the (only) problem with having a much younger partner is that Iāve retired 20 years before he will ... there have been extended periods of time when heās been able to work at home but for most of the time heās out at work for most of the week ... thank Dog for Radio 4 and Forkers eh? šĀ

Now you know how many non working partners feel @punkdoc.Ā Maybe you could find a Men in Sheds group or some such to take you out of house and self for a few hours a week.Ā Ā
@Dovefromabove - agree about the galleries and so on but I have a low threshold for art and now go to them with a target list of things to see that day and then get out again before I get to overload/saturation point.Ā First tried it when I took OH and Possum to the Uffizi, both protesting all the way so we concentrated on just a dozen or so Botticellis, Da Vincis and Michelangelos and really looked rather strolling in a dazee from one room to another.Ā Ā Works a treat.Ā Ā Ā
I can cope with the days, but at the moment she is away two nights a week as well.
I have to say, I love it when Hubby is "up country" during the week. I eat what I want, when I want, IF I want. I go to bed/ get up when I wantĀ and I can watch whatever I want to on TV and I don't have a constant stream of interruptions when I'm watching. Lovely to have him back at weekends though, lol Bless'im.
That is harder but OH spent the first two years of Possum's life away from Monday to Friday every week so I know you can manage.Ā Just have to set your mind to it and get on.Ā Ā Other halves of oil rig workers have to do it 10 to 14 days at a time don't they?Ā You get into a rhythm and, in your case, at least it's not for life.
I sympathise @punkdoc ......hated it when Mr C went away for a week earlier in the year, and I was Chicklet-less too. Ā Donāt like that home alone feeling when the silence is deafening.
Absolutely love days in London .....but agree it is good to get home to our greenery too š

Oh @punkdoc ... I do sympathize ... I miss that companionship if OH is away ... thankfully it doesnāt happen much now but when OH was doing his MA at Chelsea and I was working here in Norwich we were only able to see each other once every six weeks or so as I had to cover some weekend events at the Art Centre and he had his studies etc.... it was grim, not helped by the fact that I lived in what was then a very scary part of the city. š±.
I remember waking in the night not sure if the screams thatād woken me were next door or a play on World Service. It worked out to about 50:50. š¢ Iāve never dialled 999 so many times in my life. She kept having him back ... š
Heās dead now ... a bad fix apparently ... and last time I saw her she had a job and had managed to keep her children with her ... some sort of triumph I suppose.Ā
But I digress ... you once toyed with the idea of a dog... Iām not suggesting that Moira could be replaced by a canine companion ... but itās amazing how less empty a house can feel when thereās a middle aged Labrador in it. Just a thought ((hugs)).Ā

Guide dogs for the blind need homes when they retire from active service.Ā Ā Just a thought, or some other dog whose owner is unable to care for it any more.Ā Great way to share some love and have company.Ā Ā
