We tried defrosting the freezer but there wasn't much ice anyway, it took nearly all day to come back down to reasonable temperature, it's not the compressor as that was changed 2 years ago the last time we had a (different) problem. Noise is getting worse & is almost constant now, I might not last till Weds when engineer is due again. Why is it always another week before they can come whenever you chase them?
We have 2 freezers. One started messing about soon after we moved here but OH was able to identify the dodgy part and order a new one on the internet. Then the other started playing silly Bs because the seal round the door had gone. No replacement seals available so it had to be a whole new freezer. That made us very grumpy.
Both are 'frost free' but both need defrosting so, for the next few weeks, we'll be eating the freezers until we can empty one completely and sort each one in turn.

Likewise my Beko ... bought after a much more expensive brand threw up its hands in horror and sulked at being expected to work in a garage in the winter.
We discovered that Beko are manufactured to work in much lower temperatures than most other makes 👍
