    Morning,

    we get greater spotted woodpeckers as garden regulars, occasional lesser spotted and rarely greens. We hear the greens yaffling away so they are around but they only explore the lawn in winter.

    Went for a picnic on the Duke of Richmond's front lawn yesterday. Blustery with showers, a proper British Summer day out with lots of wasps getting in the jam for the scones.

    Hi all

    Need to do a bit of post storm clearing up and repotting of plants in the broken pots. A lot less bad than it could have been.

    Morning all.

    We have more storms and rain forecast for this afternoon. Was going to do more washing of sheets and towels, postponed.

    Niece and family are coming for lunch.

    We've had very few wasps and hornets this year. Bluetits are eating the plums instead.

    Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

    Didn't he mind?  ;)
    Hope you didn't get a mouthful of stripes....
    I had a wasp trying to share my yogurt on Saturday. He came back a couple of times, wandered around the top and just inside, and eventually decided it wasn't for him and flew off.

    Good morning.   Our forecast is for sunshine all day and just an occasional cloud.  I was woken by thunder in th enight and a bit of rain and we've had a mix of drizzle and short downpour today.   Just enough teeny mms in the last couple of days to make the weeds in the new rose beds grow exponentially.

    Hoeing for me this pm then.  Finishing off Possum's frock lesson this morning.   So far so good.

    We used to get two separate families of woodpeckers in the Belgian garden.  One lot preferred fat balls and the other lot the peanuts and the youngsters form each tribe could get very fesity when they met at feeding time.  Green ones were infrequent visitors and the lesser ones stuck to th enearby woods.   No greaters or lessers here but we do get regular greens and they do nag.   Haven't seen a robin since early spring but I've bought a nesting teapot for them but lots of young sparrows, chaffinches and tits about plus a couple of greenfinch now.

    OH wants to to to the cinema this evening and see Yesterday but I'm not sure I can be bothered.  Anyone seen it?

    @Hostafan1 - it's all campaigning bluster really.

    Only ever had one woodpecker in the garden, he stayed a while pecking away at the rose arch and then disappeared.
    Just got back from dropping Hubby off at the airport.  He's off to Turkey for 3 weeks.  I'll be joinig him in a couple of weeks time.  Is it wrong that I'm quite looking forward to the next fortnight.

    @Yviestevie  :D

    I'm much happier on my own anyway, but even when I was in a happy marriage, I always enjoyed it when hubby went out with his mates  ;)

    When OH is way I get all sorts of stuff done with no grumping and no "Why?".   I can eat when I'm hungry, or not.   I can watch what I want on TV or read for hours.

    Have to get my own morning coffee tho..... and it's lovely when he's home again.
