OH has done something to his hip and thigh, could be a pulled tendon, says it feels like his shoulder did when he had tendonitis. He spent some time in Norfolk up a ladder with a long handled chainsaw cutting branches off a huge ivy that was growing on the car port roof.
I've been to see the accountant lady this morning who helps me with my tax. She's a bi-lingual French lady who helps the English in a muddle for a small fee. Only problem is that she lives about 1h30 from me. Tax declaration in France has changed this year, they've just started pay as you earn and stopped postal declarations. They tell you by email when to do it, Dordogne was from late April to end of May so I was away for half of it. The declarations are quite complicated and not in every day language, lots of code numbers. Always a relief when it's done.
Had lunch so now it's off to the GH. Must sow more runner beans as they hadn't all germinated. Having thought plants had grown like mad because the petunias were all in flower I now realise that germination has been poor and some plants haven't grown much. Friend in the village told me there have been some heavy frosts and it hasn't been very warm while we were away. So I looked at the GH thermometer and it says -1° to 35°. If I'd been here I would have put on the heater, heated mat and propagators and shut the doors and windows at night, but I don't suppose the HS did that.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Some people are just not worth the effort, @Dovefromabove. Makes you wonder what he was hoping to achieve...
Anyway, hello everyone! Been getting ready for a weekend in Ireland, to look at the bungalow we've put a deposit on. It's a long process before we'll actually be ready to move, but exciting to be going back - with a list of questions for the owner, a tape measure, and the wherewithal to take a soil sample. We'll pop in to see our daughter, SIL and the grandchildren, but it's a very busy time for them - daughter is running an arts festival - so we're staying in a hostel in the Burren (hooray!) for a couple of nights so we don't impose on them. We fly at 8.45am so it's an early start tomorrow... the cat will be confused...
Good luck with the tax, @Busy-Lizzie! It's bad enough filling in the return in English... re your OH's leg problem, that could well be caused by balancing on a ladder for a long while. It's easy to strain something, or irritate nerves - I always end up with cramp in my calves. Hope he's soon feeling better.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

Hey everyone- just popping my head in before watering duty. Hope those with stuff on, worries or other pains are doing ok. Final few days of interview prep for me here - getting a bit nervous now! Gardening is a great distraction/reward in between work and homework - hurray for gardening!
Hello to everyone, not been on recently. We went to Broadstairs at the weekend, place of many early childhood holidays. For those that don't know it it's on the Kent coast between Ramsgate & Margate. My niece has a small house there she bought it 8-9 years ago but this is the first time we have been organised enough to go. Catching up in the garden & on the Allotments since we came back. Hope everyone's trials & tribulations are soon over.
