Its just one of those days,..sometime today i made the above video and posted it here with the intention of coming back later,..that was not to be,..i removed all the connections to my Internet Modem in order to get into the corner it was wired in,..couldn't get the sequence of wires back correctly,..three computers are connected to this modem and the phone line,..tried several times then was told to submit my password,..first time i used it in 15 years lol,..it took almost three hours before all connections and the password were correct,..then what,..the post i made with the video wasn't there?,..before i logged in no sign of it,..when i did log in there it was waiting for me to click ''Post'',..hard to believe it was hanging there all that time.
Your opening in your post looked to be the start of a great day,..sun is shining,..birds are singing,..things are perking up in the garden
Ah the young Blackbird,..it was only four foot away from where i was standing,..i started placing food for it at the base of one of the Ferns that are housed in the very tall container,..it goes there first every day in fact today i got even closer though i didn't have the camera in my hand.
The garden is really filling in just now though its when the Delphiniums are in full height and full bloom that it reaches its pinnacle,..around that time all the Lily blooms will bloom,..dozens of them and there will be colour changes from last years which i look forward to.
I wonder whats amiss with your Clematis?,..was it re potted into a bigger pot?,..they do like water and we had enough of that so i would rule out lack of water unless it was in a very sheltered spot,..Foliage in the Clouds,..Roots in the shade,..that's the saying about Clematis,..give it a liquid feed and fingers crossed,..or a drop of Epsom Salts,..no kidding it helps many plants gone poorly,..i hope it revives itself one way or another.
Buxus,..but no name,..its nice to know the species,..there is a long list of types and a few listed as prone to disease,..fingers crossed you have the disease free one,..so you remember Monty having his Buxus problem,..that's quite a long time ago.
Isn't it hard to believe that the Harts Tongue Fern was there all this time and the very day you decided to rescue it,..someone uprooted it,..not to worry if you have it in water it should recover,..in fact i have some in water as it was my intention to just place them in water for a day or so until i got a container ready,..alas it rained,..that was a week ago but no bother on them as they will survive at river water level,..i wouldn't feed them as its not in their nature,..walls and crevices don't have much to offer them yet they thrive in those locations for years.
Blackbird had its back to me when i managed to have the camera ready,..it may well be a hand feeder the way things are going,..i have to watch both ''Whisper'' and Foxy Molly as they both chase the birds.
Internet problems,..yikes me as well though my own fault for unplugging all the connections and thinking i would remember,..well i used to remember lol,..the old brain cells don't function as well these days.
You are very lucky to have two unpaid workers in the garden,..i can well imagine how their involvement has reduced quite a lot of the heavy and time wasting work,..feed them well lol.
As soon as your Daughter sends you the images forward them to me and i will re direct them,..looking forward to seeing them as well.
Yes walking around the garden is a nice feeling just now,..plants are taller than me,..except of course those very tall Foxgloves now at 8Ft high,..i took some cuttings from them as i would like more of that species,..one drawback about walking under an umbrella of plants is when its raining or just after,..rain runs down my neck.
Oh yes go for the Dragons Blood,..it really does get red,..i keep increasing my stock of it by leaving some small pieces in water for a few days,..then plant out,..it roots easy in moist soil,..if anyone wants some i can post them post free.
Sorry to read that the rain has arrived,..it sure stops you in your tracks gardening wise,..the occasional cloud burst here,..sunny one minute then its run for cover,..all three of us,..Dog Cat and me lol.
Some can just soak up what ever sun there is,..though i suspect the move from the back of the garden to half way towards the back door is strategy,..the young Blackbird feeds there.
Centranthus ruber 'Red Valerian' also named 'Spur Valerian',..'Kiss Me Quick',..'Devils Beard',..'Jupiters Beard',..growing wild on the wall at the back of the garden.
Very nice clear shot of the Butterfly,..its sometimes very hard to take a good shot as they won't stay still,..when they do they close the wings,..so well done,..nothing wrong with that camera at all,..mine is a pocked sized thing,..good when i have the right setting,..which i do forget to change and miss some good images as a result.
@nultyphilip224, I enjoyed your rose video,it's very difficult to choose a favourite, the peach one is nice, also the yellow one lit by the sun. The Lily is stunning, almost "not of this world" I couldn't believe how long it is......Have you measured,it may be a record! My heart melts to see that trusting little blackbird, maybe he could be fed higher up,away from Whispers reach? The trouble is they are ground feeders, sometimes our pair will eat off the top of the wall, but more often than not they are scratching around for worms.
@FranIOM We will be looking out for your new pics of nice lawn, when the weather cheers up,it's bad here today, high swirling wind and heavy rain,no photo opportunities in this neck of the woods unless it's flattened geraniums and Aguilegia. The heating is on too!
@Purplerain sorry to hear about your clem,it's a heart sinking moment, the dreaded wilt. The last time one of mine had it,I just cut it down and hoped for the best,it picked up again the next year, and was ok.
@AnniD. If I were you today,I would find a good reason to retreat to that beautiful green house, there must be lots to do in there! I think if I had a walk in one, that's where I'd be, anyway when the washing is done, and I've cast the yellow fluffy thing round a bit, Im off to the art room.
The fern is still looking sick,I think it had been out of the ground for about two days, but fingers crossed it will recover, the Tads are staying in the pond,as I don't think they are growing very fast due to the chilly weather, but when they do,there are lots of leafy rocky hiding places.
I hope you all have a nice day despite the storms.
The whole truth is an instrument that can only be played by an expert.
Morning all half asleep as l had to drop OH off to catch the bus to hospital some distance away (eye check up). He's arrived so l am just waiting for the text to say what his ETA will be for me to pick him up. Went to the supermarket on the way back, wandered round a bit like a zombie, good job l had a list ! @nultyphilip224 that video of the roses is beautiful, it calmed me down while l had my tea and toast (lost the knack of driving in rush hour traffic !). That music was so hypnotic l nearly fell asleep.
@Valley Gardener, l couldn't get in the greenhouse if l wanted to ! I've put my dahlias in there plus the tomatoes in hanging baskets which are still waiting to go out. I can open the door but then l have to shift them all out to get to the plants on the staging .The weather here is pretty nasty, the heavy rain has eased off for now, but there is still a very chilly wind. I think the tadpoles have the right idea !
Good morning all. The sun was shining earlier but it has clouded over now. So far, no rain or wind so fingers crossed. Yesterday was hot and sunny and family arrived. Always one to make good use of them I got son to put together two stools I bought from Ikea and then everyone got paint brushes (including the small boy) and we painted them in Willow to match the cold frame. They were only £7 each but they add that much needed height to a group of pots.
@nultyphilip224 I loved that rose video and the voodoo lily. If anything looks poisonous, then thats it. So, I was surprised to read that the corm is edible. I wonder who the brave soul was who tried it first? I could sense your frustration regarding computer cables and passwords but glad you got it sorted. Different coloured tape on the wires might be a solution for the future, but I bet you won't get into that corner again any time soon.
@Valley Gardener I don't think I passed on my commiserations regarding the fern but what a shame. As Philip said, maybe leave it in water and see what happens. I hope the little black bunny was safe, but somehow I doubt it would be unless someone caught it and saved it. I hope also that your Antirrhinums survive the cat attack. Did you know that they come back for a second year if you leave them? Here is a photo of some that I left in, blooming again:
@AnniD you and OH have been busy in the garden. It's a nice feeling to get everything in order. I am forever chasing my tail. As soon as one thing is done, another needs doing. I hope you enjoyed your well deserved rest and glad that you will give cat pee smelling shoppers the benefit of the doubt in future ☺️. That photo of the butterfly is very clever, the way you managed to get it at just the right second.
@Fran IOM Isn't it handy to have willing helper? Keep them at it! Having the grass flat and reseeded will set everything else off beautifully. Has your Geum recovered? It is shocking the way some shops leave plants to die under the guise of 'elf n safety. They are living things and should be treated as such. I put bamboo canes and wire round the buxus so we will see if my project works in the future.
Apologies if I have forgotten anything, but it's way past my time for that second coffee, so, as usual, have a good day all, whatever the weather. You got in before me Anni, hope hubby is ok and you have woken up properly by now.
Good Morning all. Sun is shining but very windy. Possible showers later today. @nultyphilip224. Haven't had time to watch your rose video yet but will do later. Can imagine how frustrated you were with your computer problems. I can never remember my passwords when needed. Just glad I don't have to sift any more soil! Will remind my daughter to email the photos. Can't even remember what they were now! If you read the thread entitled "Mine's Massive - How Big is Yours (Foxglove) there are some tall ones but don't think any can best yours. You should put a photo in and declare yourself the winner! I have a couple of not very interesting sedums and notice they seem to take even if a piece has just dropped off. I shall now go back to the SGC website for Dragon's Blood but don't tell @AnniD. I think heucheras do just as well in a pot as in the ground. @AnniD. Have read your posts on what you and OH have done in the garden and you have certainly been busy. I wish we could get a downpour as the ground is so dry. Preferably during the night. My little saved Geum looked quite happy yesterday so pleased that I gave him a good home. He would still be in the pound shop and probably dead by now if I hadn't bought him. Think it will eventually have orange flowers. @Valley Gardener We need some rain to get the grass started. Hopefully it won't be too long as I am itching to use my new mower! Looking out of the window I can see my foxgloves look a bit wonky even though I staked them in preparation for the strong wind. At least they are still standing. Do hope your fern comes back to life. @Purplerain Hope all is well with you. Maybe you have posted whilst I am taking all day with my post.
Look forward to hearing what you will have achieved today weather permitting.
Hi @Purplerain I really must try and get my posts done and dusted in good time. Will refer to your post later as I have a lot to catch up on.
