  • Hi Folks,

    I am running very late seeing its 0220 on Monday morning,..there are 25 notifications of posts to look at between here and a few Bookmarked,..plus a few on YouTube so i will respond to the ones with images posted and later today Monday i should manage to reply to all the others.

    Strong winds here today with rain but despite that quite warm.

    @AnniD ,

    You have a beautiful garden with nice long borders full of plants at various heights and lots of contrasting colours,..those Digitalis 'Foxgloves' give height and make ones eyes move up and down as you go along the border,..very nice contrast,..while i don't have grass i can see the advantage of having a lawn and how beautiful it looks

    @Purplerain

    I really like those Iris Sibiricus,..blue is a lovely colour,..so many of them in bloom as well,..you have a good eye for capturing an image,..or is it just that your garden looks so good  :)

    I was going to say good morning, but really? High winds and rain is spoiling it. I had to pop out for a few things yesterday afternoon on my own when I took a fit of the giggles about the "plop pond". So funny, and that's it's name now. I never seem to have anything living in it, it just sits there being ploppy 😀.

    Small boy was delivered again last night so I have my hands full, but parents will arrive at mine at 11.30pm from the airport and I will make up a bed for them. @nultyphilip224 thanks for the compliment and will enjoy reading your posts when you get time. I better get on with things, because...shreddies. Take care everyone.

    Good morning all!  Woke at 7.00 to bright sun,now looks as if it might rain! I love the British weather!☔☔

    Spain was just hot sun,cacti,scratchy prickly Bouganvilla  and periods of high winds for days on end,filling the porch with sand dunes.........I used to pray for rain!
    Then when it did.......usually Autumn,the dry river beds would flood, and wash down everything in its way,to the sea, animals,fridges and household stuff dumped in the rambla. Once our village was cut off for two days.
    I don't miss it one bit!!!

    @FranIOM.    If you did yourself a little plop pond,up near your seating area,I'm sure you'd get lots of little creatures.  We imported our Tads from the Heritage park nearby, OH and daughter,went with a fishing net!! But that was only because we are so high up here,they wouldn't have made it from the river.   Anywhere else we've lived,frogs have always made their own way,newts too.
    Google small ponds....Really easy to do.
    Have a good day folks!🌝☔🌞☔🌞

    Good Morning all whatever you are doing - Philip probably sleeping. Sun is shining so could be a nice day but still very windy and rather cold.
    @AnniD Your OH must take good care of your lawn. Who cuts the edges? A job I really enjoy doing as you can see the results straightaway.
    @nultyphilip224  You certainly were burning the midnight oil. Hope you have managed to catch up on your sleep and then you have to catch up on your reading. Good luck!
    @Purplerain  I first read your post as "I had to plop out"! I know what you mean about remembering something funny when you are out on your own and wondering what people think of you. Did that recently but can't for the life of me remember what is was.
    Hope your weather improves.
    @Valley Gardener  Don't blame you for not missing the Spanish weather. I shall have  to think about a little plop pond. Don't think it would appeal to the architect of the allotment but if it was something I could do on my own...  There must be tadpoles around somewhere. Used to have them as a child. Will google small ponds and ponder...
    @islander Hope your storm has passed over now and things have calmed down so you are able to go outside and hopefully not too much damage. It's time we all had some long sunny days.

    Loads to catch up on so will wish you all a good Monday.

    @Islander.   You've really been through the mill there,very worrying,do you have anyone nearby to check in with??  Hope the cats are ok too. Try and get a good rest if you can.

    Yes it must be quite disturbing to have winter gales in June,I'm glad to hear you are ok, plus the felines though.
    Take care @Islander. God Bless

    Lovely afternoon (same couldn't be said for this morning). So many bees buzzing in and out of the foxgloves, it was just mesmerising. I have 3 varieties of foxgloves ready to start sowing for next year as soon as l can find some room !
    Hope all have had a good day.
  • @AnniD,

    To like or not to like,..that is the question?

    Mmmmmmmmmmm,..Let me think!

    About branches falling,..we expect it happens in winter when they are heavy with moisture and with a strong enough wind they come crashing down,..its weird when there is no wind and you see a big branch has fallen,..during Summer when on one of the Islands,..warm day,.. no breeze,.. suddenly one hears a crash of branches falling then finds a big tree had came crashing down,..it has made me wary of walking in the wood ever since,..but i can not resist doing so.

    Looking at your beautiful garden again and thinking to myself,..i don't have any white Foxgloves ?,..we always want what we have not got,..it will be interesting to see what the Foxglove seeds you intend sowing produce.

  • @Fran IOM,

    Yes burning the midnight oil adds to the consequences of not having a normal nights sleep over a period of a fortnight,..fizzled out,..i was falling asleep today at 5.30 so i had a slumber on the couch,..i did manage to get three hours sleep from 0300 this morning,..woke up at 0600 for some reason,..even after my four ''Wheat Bisks'' i didn't feel any the better :)

    I was wondering where the Hedgehogs had gone as i had not spotted them early at night,..they have a new eating time around 0200,..twice in the past few mornings.
