  • Looking good @celcius_kkw, what is the rose in the fifth photo please? The cute red one with the specks of white?

@Ashtse1969 I'm glad to hear your rose is doing well for you... I don't know your white rose from the picture...   can you recall where you got it from?...

@celcius_kkw … no, that's not The Poet's Wife at all...  too many yellows out there so I haven't a clue at this stage...  lovely roses though !...

  • @marlorena I bought it from a florist in London , it had a tag said bred from Holland , had a ID number I googled it but no luck . Didn't have a name just say floribunda 😂😂😂😂. The first and second flush they were big spray floribunda , started with a little peachy colour in the middle and as it opened up more the outer petals turn more white , some has a bit of pinkish colour too . The foliage is very dark green large leaf. I returned to the florist to get some help , she has no idea at all but just selling them 😆😆😆😆

@Victoria Sponge That’s a cute patio rose I bought from Dobbies, I honestly can’t remember its name though as I stupidly threw the tag away.. here are a few more pics

@Marlorena I have to say that yellow rose looks more like a hybrid tea to me, with the blooms rather closely resembling the royal William. I’ll show you more pictures next time once the foliage has fully returned..

@Omori That looks beautiful. It always catches my attention whenever someone mentions ‘strong perfume’.. if only I could find it in a garden centre/nursery though so I could give it a sniff..

One of the things I’ve learned after a few months of being a beginner rose grower is to not trust the fragrance description/rating on the seller’s website too much, this includes DA. I think everyone perceives frgrarnce differently and so far I have found certain ‘medium’ scented roses like Boscobel incredibly fragrant whilst other ‘strongly scented’ ones like Claire Austin being just so so.. I have therefore decided to always have a smell of any rose that I intend to buy from now on..

….to all rose gardeners.... as you may know I don't spray roses for any reason and I don't mean to sound preachy but can I just point something out.... if you use fungicides for black spot, please be aware that those containing Myclobutanil [Resolva… Rose Clear]… are harmful to bees... it doesn't kill them but it weakens their muscles and renders them less able to fly long distances or to survive the winter...

    ...just so you know...

  • @Marlorena I’ve been trying to do more in my garden to help bees and so I plan to stop spraying my roses from now on but may I ask what do u do to keep ur roses as healthy as possible without spraying??

i get I could buy more healthy roses but I mean in terms of what I have already!!
