So I received 6 own root roses by mail on Monday. They looked terrible, so I emailed the company with pictures of the paling of the leaves and other not so good looking stuff. I have heard nothing back from them yet. Today they are so much worse. I the first photo is this a deficiency problem or early black spot? The leaves are now starting to fall off. 2 nd. photos, what is causing this deformity?
Well I was going to say congratulations on your first bloom, Daniel!
Thats looks like example of fasciation, which causes stem deformities and multiple flower heads. Not common in roses, but I did have some weird half green leaf, half pink petal growths on the canes of Gertrude Jekyll last year. You should post it on the ‘Fascinated by Fasciation’ thread...
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
Here’s my Darcy Bussell at the moment, looks good from a distance, but have already picked off all the lower, blackspot infected foliage and its spreading upwards rapidly - this is probably my worst rose for BS and the slightest spot of rain instantly discolours the leaves:

Thanks Nollie, I will have a look up about that! Does the rose just have that problem altogether or is it just a one off?
And ur rose is looking good but yeah I did notice last year it’s one of the worst for black spot!! I like it so will just have to keep an eye on it more than the others!
